Default New Japanese Sub book sighted!

I was looking for something else, when this sailed over the horizon.

http://www.amazon.com/Imperial-Japan...4132052&sr=8-1

The US sub book was okay, I'll probably buy it, because I collect Japanese sub books.

Default Ospry Japanese Sub Book

I remember seeing this announced as a pre-release item a long, long time ago. But when I started a thread on it, reaction was less than positive.:hmm: Ospry doesn't have a very good reputation, after all (I have a few of their books - they are not too bad, but nothing to get exciting about and also full of errors). I wasn't planning on picking this one up, but maybe it will be wirth the effort - if anyone here picks up a copy, let us know what it is like.

BTW - Here is the old thread I started on the book back in November (2006). Let it stay dead though - if there is to be a discussion of this book, it is better to stick with this new one.

Well, I ordered it! For $10, it's not too bad. I'd call it the Cliff note version of Japanese subs. It is an entry level Navy book. I also own WW1 U-boat and WW2 US sub books in this series. As a collector of Japanese sub books, I felt compelled to buy it. The submarine book by Norman Polmar is much better and in-depth.
It covers the basics of all of the submarine classes, weapons, and tactics. The artwork is the standard Osprey produced drawings. One of the major resorces for the book was www.combinedfleet.com So, if you want to save the money, just go to the website.

If you're looking for deep analisys, this isn't your book. It is very basic.
