Funily enough if you look at some of the research were doing a lot of the stuff were using is based on stuff that was either used or was on the drawing boards to be used so the Uber boots aint to far fetched tbh

Congrats to you Mush Martin for the stickied thread! You deserved it.
When I take a closer look to those wake "drawings" of Uberboot, I think some of them look really eastethic. Maybe we should do a paint-your-name-with-your-wake-competition... no just kidding... besides I would not be able to draw the dot in "Mr. Fleck" Cheers! Mr. Fleck |

MM:rotfl: [edit] Lee, I wunder what happened to thompsen he was out on 115 on his 2nd patrol when last he checked in his decks were awash with schnapps and he was getting blasted. should we declare The Phantom Lord missing and presumed incarcerated. no doubt by responsible authorities.? |

widely respected guest, if you have any questions suggestions or critiques by all means uber is a learning exercise for me after all and any input would be most welcome. ps help yourself to a beta1.3 copy jim I wont tell anyone! also 2.0 is now based on IXD2 instead of IXB as a result of enlightenment by brass balls thread to the differences between them. for ther record both handle like a thoroughbred in uberguise. welcome aboard Master Kaleun. |

Well Martin, still plugging away with Version 1.3.1a,lol Decided to try the mission "Brake", had played it before, good fun! But this time, using UberBoot. I was surprised this time to see the German tanker destroyed by gunfire so quick!! Went to hunt down the people responsible for this, and the battle was on! Tried to stay on the surface and slug it out with them, but got too hot and had to dive. Took out fist destroyer quite easily, but the next two were quite good! After surviving a couple of depth charge attacks (very narrowly I might add) I szed up my situation, and it wasn't good. Electric motors destroyed, and lost one diesel engine. Hull integrity was fine, but fuel really low. After a few minutes of manuevering, fuel was gone! I was a sitting duck, and did not like what I saw from these screen's!

These two pesky destroyers kept circling above, taking their turns dropping charges, minimal damage was repaired quite fast! Couldn't believe my luck, was still in one piece, but pretty helpless to react! I can change depth (albiet verrrry slowly) but that is it!
Got a chance to get some great photo's of my two surface friends, they passed by me quite close a number of times! |

I began to study the bearings coming in on these two vultures, and noticed a pattern developing. mind you, the crew was not happy as I took quite sometime to do this! Finally, it seemed to me, that they were equal distances apart, while one was off my bow, the other was off my stern, and they were running what I thought was a figure 8 pattern, but not sure on that. After they made their last run, I waited to see if they changed what they were doing, but they hadn't. Now, I thought, the Hunters are becoming the hunted!
When one was straight in front of me, I raised my scope! Not moivng, I hoped it would take them longer to see it. And the plan worked! I lined up the first boat in the crosshairs, and fired!! Wasn't long, and the explosion could be heard through my boat, and a cheer (for the first time from my crew) resounded just as loudly!! We were fighting back! I watched my prey, and even after hitting him near his bow, he kept coming for me, and I started to sweat a bit more!! As he came closer and closer, I couldn't help but watch in horror, as I thought he had enough speed built up to come down on top of us! (Remember, I'm dead in the water!) He kept coming and coming, but his bow was getting lower in the water by the second! Finally, he plunged beneath the waves, a lot closer then I wanted him to be!!! |

Now it was time to turn my attention to my other nemisis, who was off my stern. I follwed the same procedure, locked on to him, and fired a fish from my stern tubes, and moments later, a second explosion was felt, he went down quickly!
With those two finally gone, and nothing in the area but debris, I debated about surfacing the boat. As I was about to give the order, my sonar man reported contacts bearing 333, and closing at a steady speed. Surfacing would have to wait, as it seems I have more company on the way! Hope a German tanker is on the way, because I'm not sure what I'm going to do once I run out of fish!!! |
