Fast Attack wont run in DOSbox.
I copied the files from the CD to a folder in the DOSBox folder.
C:/docuents/DOS/FATTACK was the folder that the setup created with the game files. It installed correctly, but, it wont run. I tried typing the .exe, fastgame, but it says DOS/4GW Professional Protected Mode Run-time Version 1.97 Copyright (c) Rational Systems, Inc. 1990-1994 Im trying on DOSBox .74 I have other games that run fine. I.E. 688 Attack Sub, Red Storm Rising, etc.

I've had my copy of FA running in dosbox with no problems.
I would suggest mounting the CD (or the ISO, if you've made a copy) as drive D. Installing from that, and then running the game with the CD still mounted. |

Basically, you want to type the following into dosbox. Note the "D:" at the end. That will switch you into the D drive so that you can run the files on it. After setup you can switch back to C with "C:".

What is an ISO of a CD? I moved the CD files to my D: drive and installed.
The situation i described above happens when i type FAST or FASTGAME. I tried the mounting the cd thing you just told me and it said Image File not Found.

ISO is a CD image. Essentially a virtual CD-ROM. Several freeware tools exist to convert your CDs into ISO images.

Either way, you don't have to worry about making an ISO file if you are willing to run the game with your CD in the drive. So just mount the CD off of your CD drive. Please see the following link for a walk-through: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Set...Running_a_game |

I think i am going to try that.
A while back, i copied the files from some old game CD's onto my computer and then sold them to make space in the cabinet. Some of those games do run now. Fast Attack was among them. I had never really gotten a chance to play FA because i never found out about DOSBox. I do have a win98 PC that these old game were played on. I think it was 1996 when FA came out. I was real young then...too young to play on a computer.... Subsims never sparked with me until i played SH2 in Spring 2011... I have to go Disc Hunting in the old computer boxes to find a blank disc....

IIRC, it's a naming issue. The drive (virtual or physical) that contains your FA files has to be designated FATTACK or something (I'm not sure though). There has to be an option somewhere in DOSBox that lets you name your drives.
Try playing around with the options you get with "intro cdrom" and see if something works out. I remember that I had a similar issue and got it to work eventually. I'll check how I did it |
