Is this a normal thing that happens when a GPU overheats?
Well today I was playing Crysis. (had been for alittle while before.) when while on the last level right at the end. (when you have to take down the realy big alien thing.) Some Triangle things appeared on the screen (acouple of them, different colors.) and the game froze. I Alt tabed out of crysis and they where still there.
What ya think?

Or a graphics card memory overheat problem. Since they were triangles, I'd suspect the GPU. If they were random pixels all over the place, then look towards memory.

Yea. thats what I was guessing. (felt behind GPU, was vary hot.)
What I get for playing crysis with the edited extreme quality Config file all day.(and The computer was doing quite good before that happened.) I also think this gpu was damaged from my old case like I said before. (was the standard HP case, with sh**y airflow through it.)

If you have the card overclocked I would set it back, otherwise I would deliberately underclock it, assuming that after a reboot & cool down the problem has gone.

If you find it is a recurring problem, you can use stuff like Rivatuner to create custom fan-profiles, set some higher fan speeds as is default for the card. I actually had to use that since the fan on my card wouldn't speed up from default at all.

Sounds like you caught the card on its way to heatlock. Usually if you overheat one - they lock solid - you can hear stuff going on - but nothing on the display will change. Keep an eye on it is your best bet.

Yep, fan has dust stuck to it. (and the big fan on the top of the case was never hooked up, so the heat wanst being sucked out.)
But im out of air in my air can. Also were starting to get warmer weather around here. so the gpu is not staying as cool.

I had to replace GPU fan on GF6600 when it started to temporarily stop rotating during the gameplay.
