Default 6GB RAM

Hello,

I bought SH 4, then realised that it needs 6GB RAM. Is this for real? I've got a basic PC with 3GB RAM. I don't think this game would even work on Deep Blue. Is there a way to get around this problem. At the moment the graphics simply won't move.
OS Vista basic. 32 bit
Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100

Thanks

JWW

No, it doesn't need it. I played it fine with 2gbs with my old system, use 4 now and little difference. Where did you read that, cause that's not the requirements.

You're a little weak with the video card for sure, try turning settings down.

Other specs?

A GF6100 will never run SH4 properly. I'm pretty amazed the game actually started with it. 3gb of ram on the other hand is more than enough, and with a 32bit OS you wouldn't be able to use much more anyway.

The CPU is: AMD Sempron(tm) 3000+ 1.6 GHz

I read the '6GB RAM' on the 'system requirements' on the back of the box.
I was thinking about getting another graphics card, an ATI Radeon HD 4350 1GB, for example. What do you reckon?

2 gigs of RAM is plenty. Your video card will die with this game. I had the GF6200 and it was awful. I got a EVGA 7800 GT. Highest I could go with a AGP set up. The CPU is a AMD3200+ Like 2.2 Ghz on it. Game played well. Some slow down So, your CPU might give you some trouble as well.

The 6GB you are seeing is Hard Drive space. It only needs 1GB RAM (2GB Recommended)
But I agree that the video card is low, I have a 7600GS and had to lower my settings. The 1.6 Mhz is low also, they say 2Ghz with 3 recommended. Maybe someone will jump in that has tried to play it on a 1.6.

Try setting everything as low as it will go and give it a try. If you don't know, there are two places for settings. One on the main menu and another when you enter a campaign/career and enter an "office" (Captains Room) you click on a radio on the shelf to the left.

With a GF7600 GS I can run on medium. But to try it out, if you can make it far enough into the game, select to start Outside the port. A lot of machines better than mine studder around bases.

Good luck.

Hello again,

I'm looking at the back of the SH4 box and it says: RAM 6GB and disc space 7GB. I'll try turning down the settings and see what happens.

Cheers!

Reply well over due!

I bought it from a shop called Mediamarkt, which is a German chain, I think. Anyway, I think I'll have to update my card before I'll be able to play it.

Cheers
