Whoa, I gotta save up some dough for that gato....

1/72 scale
Gato Class length = 312 feet

so model length = 4.3 feet!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be interested to see how long it takes for the after market detail items to hit the market for this baby. Now, if only someone can come up with a WWII US sub sim that rivals SHIII for graphics and DW for realism.

Oh,it looks so nice.
But I can't buy it.
It is too big to decorate in my house.

If it is 1:144 scale, it sounds more good for me.

In Japan ,I heard "Hasegawa" will reproduct Japanese sub I-400 1:160 scale
replacing to new material.

Anyway next time I hope REVELL will make Japanese submarine
in 1:72 scale.

Hey I have seen the German sub here in Kaiserslautern at a hobby shop. Since my wife and I will be living here for 3 years... we plan to go see the sites.. I really wanna see the sub pens and Normandy. The uboat model i saw was in the store window.. it was HUGE.. I wish I had the space and time to make one

That's what I've been waiting for. A real Gato.
With the proper documentation of The Floating Drydock we can modify this model - after building it - for years to come!

Revell displayed the unassembled parts of their 1/72 Gato Class at the last IPMS convention. Pictures are available at www.modelwarships.com/features/current/ipms-2006/vendor/pages/5-revell-05.html
thru /5-revell-08.hrml
I hope that worked. This is my first time trying to reference another website.

There's some really interesting pictures in the gallery if you scroll through a bit there's some nice miniatures and whole bunch of other stuff. That Gato kit is shaping up to be something that's I'll just have to buy not only for the fun of building it but for the chance to rig her out for R/C patrols.

I've been trying to find a review about this model and so far the best one I could find was from a starship modeling forum(see below). For somebody who gave it a quick look before going to bed, he seems to have done a pretty good job of pointing out the kits strengths and negatives. If you read further down the thread, there's mention of after market parts already in the works. Looks like I'll after get this one but probably after Xmas.

They had it at the hobby shop for $99. Too bad I have other projects in the building queue.
