The T Class, Gato and Balao submarines also have a unique characteristic: They have six bow and 4 stern torpedo tubes, but here a little explanation needed. SH2 has a limitation in its interface when it comes to the number of torpedo tubes (Max. 6), so we had to overcome this problem by creating "virtual" torpedo tubes. This means that, despite seeing only 4 tubes, you will in fact have two more shots from your bow tubes and two more from the stern ones, but you will not see the green/red lights for them. The needle will simply stay on tube 4 while you fire tubes 5 and 6, or in tube 6 when you fire tubes 9 and 10 (Rear). This is the closest we could achieve. Sorry. But better six fake tubes than only four real ones.
What may frustrate you a bit is the high value of duds you will get with your early war MK14 torpedoes (Until mid 1943). This is realistic, so don't blame us for that. If you get sick of this, play with Dud torpedos off in Realism options. Didn't you read the readme?

Invisible Files
I have two copies of the Super CD. They worked, with some difficulty, on my eight-year-old HP running Win98SE, but I still managed to get the files off them.
Now I have a new Acer laptop with Vista, and Explorer says there are no files in the Pacific Aces and several other folders. No files appear in the window and Explorer says the folder is empty. Any advice will be appreciated.

Problem with PA Maps
Hello,
I just installed Pacific Aces over Silent Hunter patched 1.1.. It works quite welle except that sometimes I see european maps (in the briefing room for example) instead of Asian maps... And when I start the campaing (the one where you start near Brisbane), I don't see my objectove waypoint on the map and I haven't encountered a single enemy ship (or even allied) during 30 minutes and accelerating time.. Is this normal? Good day. |

I don't have PA installed (deleted my copy a long time ago) but AFIK this is correct, there is no pacific map in the briefing room.

Hi mavyalex
I also haven't PA installed since long because my Nvidia card corrupts menus, but I also remember that pacific theater maps were not visible in the briefing room. As for the objective, you should see the blue cross somewhere, and due to engine limitations you will not always encounter enemy traffic until you arrive to the assigned patrol area. Keep also in mind that US subs travelled long distances before being close to enemy areas, and it is in any case normal not to find enemy traffic on the way, since you are in US controlled waters. Do you have the PA 1.1 patch, which adds some contents and fixes, or simply the initial PA release?

Same response here.
It was not possible to change the European map in the briefing room - I think it was hardcored.

Saved game bug (possible work-around)
Hi everyone, I nstalled Pacific Aces and it is running just fine, except for this strange thing; When I start the game from the SH2 exe in the PA Shell folder,
and load a saved game from the "continue saved mission" menu, my game loads with my submarine listing heavily and quickly to the left and then subsequently it sinks and goes to the bottom---mission over. None of my commands are followed, though some stations are usable. The boat just goes nowhere and is swallowed by the sea. Game over. Now, none of this happens when I start up the game from either of the other two Sh2 Shell exe files in the PA Shell folder. The game starts, I go into the saved single mission menu, boot up those same saved missions, and the game works perfectly normal--no problems. Its not a big deal, and I probably would have to reinstall the mod to fix the problem, but I just thought I would radio this in, and if anyone knows any thing more about it they could post it. Otherwise I really love the Mod and am greatful for it. Thanks, Shaun |

Battery charge indicator and fuel gauge.
Hello, i wanted to ask about a possible bug in PA, either that or i just don't know how the sim works. It has to do with the the battery charge indicator. I ran training mission 1 and 2 and noticed that the red bar doesnt change at all on the battery charge gauge; even after running at 17 meters below the surface for at least 3 to 8 hours under time compression. Same after running the diesel engines at a protracted amount of time. The gauges never shifted one iota. Im thinking they should have shown some movement but perhaps i did not run the sub long enough. It is a training mission and although i turned on the realism settings for the unlimited fuel and unlimited battery i still didnt see any change. Unless i would have to start a new mission for the setting to take effect, i just don't know. If anyone has any ideas of how those gauges are supposed to work, or how to get them working, im here. Let me know. I really appreciate your time and feed back. I think in the mean time ill try to reinstall it and see what happens. Thanks everyone, Shaun
Update: Just a few minutes after i posted this, i tried starting a new mission in default SH2---with the realism settings on for both the battery and fuel gauges; ran at 256 time compression and saw that there was a needle tick mark that moved down the battery charge indicator, that i never saw before as I havent played a Silent Hunter game since almost 2010, and at that never owned it long enough to get aquainted with the gauges and controls until now. Anyway the Diesel gauge needle is also moving, so it seems the crisis is over lol. Thankyou guys. Shaun Last edited by hps3445; 04-22-23 at 11:14 PM. |

Glad you solved it, TBH I don't remember by now any of how SH2 works ... so I would have a hard time helping out Man, time sure flies, we did this back in 2004, that is now nearly 20 years ago ...
