Das Boot what version?
I'm looking at buying a copy of Das Boot. There are two versions The directors cut with 60+ min of additional footage (blue cover) and then there is the Original directors uncut version (gray cover)? I know that the grey cover version has an additional disk with special features, but as far as the actual film is there a difference between the two?

There's also the 'Original, Uncut Version', which is an hour and a half longer than the Director's Cut. That's my favorite.

I'm sorry, I didn't quite understand at first. Yes, I prefer the 'Uncut' version, as it has the most footage and the best storytelling. The Director's Cut, just so you know, does have better subtitles and better sound. Still, I like the long version. The more boat, the better.

Also, about the character development. The more, the better.
There are less holes in the story when you watch the Uncut version....which I still haven't been able to watch. Some day... P.S. Steve....i'm sorry to say, I passed on a 5$ copy of Tora Tora Tora last week. I know...I know...Bad....

In terms of subtitles, the most creative is the iTunes version. Especially the description of Gibraltar

It's the common thing to say about it.

Just My Opinion!
Sound is half the Movie for me! I watch the "Das Boot Director's Cut". Of course on a 60" flat screen TV and for sound running through to 2 QSC 2450 RMX amplifiers and a DBX crossover, 2 Jbl Mpro 18" subwoofer cabinets for low end and for high end 2 Dual Jbl Mpro 15" fullrange cabinets. I take my Movie watching seriously. Oh yeah a popcorn machine ready and some ice cold Beck's! You should hear them charges kicking under 40HZ. Don't worry my pictures frames are well fastened to the wall!

My $0.02 (for what it's worth), see if you can track down the 2 disc mini series. 4 hours & 42 minutes of epicness. Oh, I also own the director's cut.
