Deep inside Russia’s secret state an agent is working against Vladimir Putin. The FSB officer, dubbed the Wind of Change, writes regular dispatches revealing the truth about the barbarism being carried out in Russia’s name. The revelations within needed to be shared with the West. It fell to me to translate them.

In early March, in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I came across a Facebook post by Russian dissident exile Vladimir Osechkin. Osechkin had received an email in Russian from, he said, a source inside Russia’s intelligence agency, the FSB, laying out the anger and discontent inside the agency at the invasion.

Russian oil chief Maganov dies in 'fall from hospital window'

The chairman of Russia's Lukoil oil giant, Ravil Maganov, has died after falling from a hospital window in Moscow, reports say.

The company confirmed his death but said only that Maganov, 67, had "passed away following a severe illness".

Russian media said he was being treated at Moscow's Central Clinical Hospital and died of his injuries.

Maganov is the latest of a number of high-profile business executives to die in mysterious circumstances.

Investigating authorities said they were working at the scene to establish how he died. Tass news agency quoted sources saying he had fallen out of a sixth-floor window, adding later that he had taken his own life.

Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Lukoil board called for the conflict to end as soon as possible, expressing its sympathy to victims of "this tragedy".

Its billionaire president, Vagit Alekperov, resigned in April after the UK imposed sanctions on him in response to the invasion.

Several Russian energy oligarchs have died in unusual circumstances in recent months:

The body of millionaire Novatek former manager Sergei Protosenya was found alongside his wife and daughter at a Spanish villa in April

A former vice-president of Gazprombank, Vladislav Avayev, was found dead with his wife and daughter in their Moscow flat, also in April

In May, a former Lukoil tycoon Alexander Subbotin died of heart failure, reportedly after seeking alternative treatment from a shaman.

Lukoil is Russia's biggest private company. In its statement it said it was down to Maganov's managerial talent that it had evolved into one of the world's largest energy firms.

He began working for the private oil company in 1993 and took over as chairman two years ago.

A team from the UN nuclear watchdog arrives at a Russian-held nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.

The inspectors have made it to the complex, despite fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region.

They hope to assess the state of the plant and talk to Ukrainian workers under Russian control. But it's not known how long they will be able to stay.

There has been shelling around the facility in recent weeks with both Russia and Ukraine accusing each other of carrying out the attacks.

Meanwhile Russia has cut the amount of the gas it sends to Europe by shutting the key Nord Stream 1 pipeline for the second time this summer.

A Kremlin spokesman blamed Western sanctions against Russia, which he claimed prevented normal repair work.

Danish Minister of Defence said Putin is a little man and he will not win the war in Ukraine.

This made me think..we haven't seen his armies fully potential, So far it's, according to him, a special operation. The day he declare war on Ukraine that day we will see it.

I don't think it would make any different except there will be a lot more troops and material in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the funeral of Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet Union's last leader, the Kremlin has confirmed.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Mr Putin's work schedule would not permit him to attend the event on Saturday.

He said the Russian leader had paid his respects at the Moscow hospital where Gorbachev died on Tuesday, aged 91.

Gorbachev's reforms helped end the Cold War, but saw the demise of the Soviet Union, which Mr Putin has lamented.

UN nuclear experts have made their first inspection of the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia power plant in Ukraine, following a risky journey delayed by shelling near the site.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said he had seen what he "needed to see".

Rafael Grossi said the "plant and physical integrity of the plant" had been "violated several times".

The inspectors were accompanied to the plant by Russian soldiers.

Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of trying to sabotage the mission.

Zaporizhzhia, in southern Ukraine, is Europe's largest nuclear plant. It was occupied by Russia soon after it invaded Ukraine in February.

Ukrainian staff who continue to operate the plant say Russian troops have used it as a military base and that workers are in effect held at gunpoint.

And then the many thankful words of the chief of that delegation, praising Russian cooperation. When he ended I almost expected him to drop his pants and bend over.


This all is a diplomatic coup for Russia, not an engineer and inspection trip.

Seems to recall an article in where it said that these people from IAEA needed at least 5 days to inspect the entire Powerplant-But they doubt Russia would give them 5 days.

Can have remembered wrong though.
