Nice shots Steed, Pacific Aces dressed it up a bit also.

Still have this on my computer.

Good Question what was the oldest U-boat sim on the PC?

...As far as subsims go it was probably Gato (1984) followed by Silent Service (1985) then Up Periscope.

As far as U-Boats go probably the ambitious but flawed Epyx title Sub Battle Simulator (1987) then 360 Pacific's arcade sim "Das Boot" (1990). I still have all those old friends on various platforms except Gato up in my loft.

In those days you would definitely not have picked the PC as a games machine over "superior" hardware like the Commodore 64 which featured sound, joystick control and a much larger colour pallette than the PC!

I still have my old Atari 520ST, and Silent Service and Pirates, both from Sid Meyer, still look pretty good.

Nothing like Aces, though.

Man,
I remember Silent Service on Commodore 64. These bloody tapes and blackboxes. Loading a game was magic, fingers crossed all the time!!! That was really funny when you look back at it. But satisfaction was incredible though...

p.s. Nice screenies STEED.

I love playing SH2 ... and with the "ATLANTIK II " it makes it that much more enjoyable.

The Great Escape 1945

West of Spain gave me two American Aircraft Carriers as targets of opportunity which are now at the bottom of the sea. Yes I made it to my new home, it's time to set up the Fourth Reich.

Hope you folks enjoyed this flash back to SH2.
