Default November 1943 NYGM convoy

Hunt II and River DEs escorts equipped with Types 271 and 276 radar. I guess good thing there was 15 m/s wind/waves; I was able to shadow the convoy for hours on end, at times within 1800 meters of the escorts and never more than 3000.

Are you sure they had radar? Maybe you observed the 'cfg-bug'?

See here:

I don't know how probable this bug is in NYGM, but you might check the campaign files...

Had me curious as well; where's the radar ? I was unaware of that bug, many thanks LGN1 for pointing it out.
The .rnd file has Hunt II's with the 19380101 cfg date but only in small, unique convoys. The Rivers cfg dates are only from 1942 on.

So it would appear this bug was not in play if I understand it correctly.

The convoy I was dealing with was a HG convoy I believe, northbound from Gibraltar slightly wnw of Cape Finisterre.
Strange, as my rwr picked up five escorts with radar but they acted as if they didn't and even the first early war radar should have picked me up at those ranges.

Did a test mission with same env. conditions and both a Hunt II and River escort, one at a time. Both detected me at 3600 meters.
Strange. I know single missions and campaigns are apples/oranges but must be something in the .rnd file I guess.

Something is definately strange in the campaign, which is a non-modded NYGM install btw.
Just did a campaign test at the same location, same time frame, etc. and still never detected via radar though my warning receiver is picking them up.
Did the same campaign scenario in a stock install and no problem; escorts peg me via radar when they should.

I've changed the Hunt II entries in the .rnd file to make each of it's file entries generic instead.

Give that a try when I get a chance.
