Its more weapons than modelling change all though we are talking
over a few potential new directions we arent commited yet to those.

Uber is about player experience as opposed to historical meticulousness.
and on that count it scores high even in its current configuration.

What can I say JCW I wanted to push the envelope one day during
AA testing and I shot it down out of a neighboring Freelancer game.

The Fraulein Kaleun Puts Uberboat To the Test

So very rarely do you get a U-boat that just seems to hit the spot on the average bloodthirsty tonnager gaming girl like me. But today really showed me that you can put your faith in some MODS, to really really satisfy. Silent Hunter 3 is a masterpiece of nautical WW2 simulating proportions. Ever since I became hooked on this game thanks to the recommendations of my older brother I saw it as something that I could have fun in, but not the kind of fun you expect to have. Fun can be characterised on so many different levels, there is the fun of stalking, carefully approaching your target to strike which is typically what SH3 is all about. Then there is the kind of fun where you are the Incredible Hulk wrecking the place throwing caution to the wind and bringing all your enemies to book in suitably crushing fashion. Using your limitless strength at will without so much as a second thought. Can you find both those kinds of fun in Silent Hunter 3? The answer is no.

Then... Mush Martin comes along......

You will see there, a rather unique bit of kit. "It looks like a Type IX with a VIIC/4 conning tower" I hear you say. Well, it is. But, this mod is so cool its the way of bringing the afore mentioned Incredible Hulk into a strategy game.

I decided to boot up the uberboot and test him on the Happy Times mission, which happens to be my favourite mission of them all. After picking off the cruiser and the one destroyer, it was time to surface and see what uberboots guns were capable of. If ever there was a case for comparing anything that floats in SH3 to the Hulk this is that one thing. Its fast like that Hulk, its got a hide of armour like the Hulk. Its got the firepower of the Hulk, the only thing it doesn't do is roar angrily and say "Hulk Smash"

Why compare uberboot to the Hulk? Because its the only comparison I can think of! I think the Hulk-Boat would be a better name for this, but there could be copyright or somfin like that. Can I just say I sank the entire convoy before the escorts arrived?

There is the proof. After all, what good would my comments on this mod be without proof right? I was so preoccupied with the boat and what it can do, I didn't get any pictures of the actual sinkings. It was so fast paced, so intense (a different kind of intense to SH3), so brutal that it took all my skills to keep pace. Boy was it fun!

After eliminating the entire convoy, I then exited the mission.

In my own little way, I am now a sort of honourary member of the 100k club. If anybody wishes to argue that fact, I must warn you, my mind is made up that means no changing it!

This little mod is fantastic, and the best part of it is, those of us like me can really appreciate the wanton destruction the uberboot is capable of causing. Silent Hunter 3 is great, and GWX makes it greater still. But... that is the immersive realistic actual way it was done style of gameplay which is fun. But today for me was great to simply cut loose and cause no end of destruction. I totally recommend uberboot. Nothing helps you unwind after a serious stressful patrol quite like this. I decided to bring my 'celebration' banner out of retirement, in honour of uberboot! Even though I won't be "celebrating" till saturday. Uberboot is well cool MM!
