Default How many of you were sailors?

Seems we have a lot of people on here that know intimate things about subs. Thank you for your service. My dad was a sailor in the Coast Guard on a couple icebreakers in the early 60's one was the Spencer, I have a picture of his ship in the arctic packed in the ice while they went "ashore". He was a fire controlman on the 5". One nephew was on a modern missile destroyer about 10 years ago working in the CIC.

Would love to hear about you guys, feel free to pipe in.

yes, i served and my father did 6 war cruises with the Kingfish. he was a GM2C(E-5) when he was discharged in 1946.

two reasons why i know intimate things about subs.

Awesome! Thank you for your service! Which patrols was your dad on? I took a look on wiki, they took a bunch of depth charge damage on the third one, was he on there during that time? What ships and/or subs were you on?

I was a Ground Pounder with the 82nd AirBorne.
Once kicked out of a perfectly good aircraft? We were transported by LPC's to our assigned AO's.
Crazy that I enjoy messing with Silent Hunter versions don't ya think?

LPC = Leather Personnel Carriers AKA BOOTS!
