Default Kill not credited

Just sunk a freighter in atrocious weather - fired 2 torps, both hit but lost visual contact in the weather. Death animation played a few minutes later whilst trying to re-establish visual contact, kill cam activated but no red ship sunk symbol on the map nor does it appear on the patrol log.

Sometimes, this happens. Basically if you are X distance away when a ship you attacked sinks, sometimes sim won't confirm the kill. Also, wavs can damage some ships (are you running FOTRS?) , so while you caused the damage, seas may have finished the ship off, so you did not get credit, since technically the seas caused the sinking.

Yes, running FOTRS.
Tried that again, same thing. Ship sank, no credit. Oh well. Continuing patrol.

by any chance, had you sunk the same ship in a previous session?
by this i mean, did you sink the ship, save the game, exit SH4, re-enter SH4, reloaded the mission, sank the same ship?

(apologies for the mixed tense verbs)

Yes, I had saved then exited SH4 after sinking the merchant the first time (it was a Hansa freighter). The uncredited kill was in my next play session, the same class of ship.

yeah....we've seen this phenomenon previously.

you sink a ship, save the mission within 20-30 nm of the sinking and then x minutes later, the same ship reincarnates itself.
if you sink it again, no credit. however, it can sink or damage you and it counts.

this is especially hurtful if it was a convoy that you attacked.

it's an Ubi bug. nothing can be done about it.
try not to save within 20-30 nm of a kill, or if you need to save for strategic reasons, then avoid reincarnated kills.

good luck!

Yeahhhh...

Can for definitely, confirm what KaleunMarco said there...

Ran into that, numerous times.

I strongly recommend, leaving the area where you sink any ships (convoy or solo) by at least... a minimum of... 75 nm's. This will help alleviate that... Deja vu feeling...

Hope that... info, helps...
