Default Complete Reload of game

Due to difficulties in graphics, I totally wiped SH4 off my pc and re installed it, from disc. I have spent several hours working on idea after idea. The game itself runs perfectly all along but the lettering is grainy, make the eyes go funny! I kept taking it out and putting it back, even tried my steam copy which I have had for a long time but prefer disc.

So as I have a monotone map with huge anchors, I decided to manually input Nav Map Makeover v2.1, very nice effects and now have no anchors at all, and no bases either. No notifications of base change from Manila to Surabayo or whatever.

As SH4 was ok in Win 11 until today, I have no idea what's causing the blurring letters. I even reloaded my graphic card driver but it is the same. Once I am on the seas, the graphics are great, ships, explosions, waves, weather - everything good. So I suppose there are bugs stopping me getting notifications of base changes. I get all other messages! oh yea, sank two cruisers and only got a purple heart!!
