I do not believe different cards can SLI. Do not quote me on that. Google your question and see what comes up.

Watch your tongue mate, don't go around insulting my GTS.

And no, you can't SLI a 8800GTS to a GTX295. It works for 8800GT + 8800GTS 512 because they have the same core (G92). The only difference between the 2 is that the GT has part of the core disabled giving it a lower shader count.

2 x 295? If you want to throw cash around, just send it my way.

At the moment, even GTX 275 is overkill for most games. Then there's the 285 and the dual-GPU 295 (2x285). Just get 1 295 for now, and another in the future when you maybe actually need it, a heck of a lot cheaper.

If it's performance you're after, 2x 275 in SLI beats a single 295 (for less cost), I can only guess how retardedly fast 2x 285 is.

Ow, and DX11 lies ahead. You sure you want to waste that kinda cash on 2 monsters that don't even support DX10.1?

yea, I guess your right... then what the **** to get for christmas... I have learnt one thing about this card though... its like a zombi... it never dies... its been overheated, filled with a years worth of dust. still works.

any way, i dont think too many games will be useing DX11, look howmany use DX10... maby 10... the look at DX9... a entire s*** load... by the time DX 11 gets popular... there will be DX 12 or something like that.

aaah well, who knows what nvidia will shove out of there doors by december...

IMO get the 275 then. If you overclock it/get an overclocked edition, it's faster than the obsolete 280 and gets close to a stock 285 (maybe even faster, not sure), while still costing less than what I paid for my 8800GTS 512 at the time. If DX11 arrives and you change your mind, you might be glad you didn't spend so much on "barely DX10" gear. Or if you want to stick with the GTX, buy another one instead. Introduction of the new cards should bring a pricedrop to the GTX200s.

(The point in waiting for DX11 cards IMO isn't DX11 support, but full DX10 support (10.1), which uptill now only Radeons have. At least you'll be able to fully enjoy DX10 titles untill DX11 takes off. I think it will be excepted a lot faster than DX10, since noone likes Vista but everybody loves Win7. And when it does take off, you're ready for it.)

Do you have a monitor capable of high res? SLI performs/scales best on high resolutions. If you do, 2x 8800/9800GT will beat a 285 while costing less than a 275.

Single card still rules on lower res though.

(another thing to consider with SLI: you'll need a C2D, preferably C2Q, CPU at 3GHz or higher to avoid bottleneck there. Also a high native res LCD or good CRT, because SLI barely offers any benefit at lower res)

Feel free to ignore, just throwing some info at you so you know what you're getting into.

Well, ill be getting this stuff for christmas, who knows what will be out by then... but im sure as with every series of card, the first generation of DX11 cards will be Veary expensive, buggy, ect.
