Default Next to zero destroyer pursuit lsh2000

Am I missing something here? I'm playing on 100 percent realism, regularly attack and sink ships out of convoys, and have never had a destroyer do more than take a cursory sniff around.

I have been playing my current campaign from the earliest start date and operation drumbeat just started. I'm getting a little frustrated with how routine everything seems. Am I missing something in the settings to have the ai be more aggressive? I have attacked next to 15 convoys in my current game and the response from the ai just does not happen, I have yet to see a single depth charge. What's going on? I can get them to shoot at me if I attack on the surface, bit submerged...nothing

Will this ramp up as the war progresses? It's getting a bit boring.

Well... where to begin here... hmmm...

To begin with... are you flat out rolling with SH3, set up as flat out stock... did you modify stock to include any mods... which, makes for a problematic mix... as if anything goes wrong with the mix you cross frankensteined... then will end result with having to wipe out the whole shooting match (better still, if you're using jsgme, to inject mods into the mix, looking to achieve the level of realism that you're after... )

That said... & if not stock or some small number of add in mods... are you using a mod set mix... such as... LSH3, NYGM, CCoM, GWX.... of which there are others, but... for brevity, will just stop there... listing every last single one.

So... it'd help to know just what your set up is there, pardener...

If you are indeed, using jsgme... is but a simple task...

Open jsgme, click on tasks, there dead center... in the pop up menu, scroll down & select export & select to clipboard.

This, will allow you to very easily (& handily, I might add... ) paste that clipboard copy of what mods you have activated... thereby, allowing us the other subsim members, to purview just what you're rolling with... & see if there is a solution or if a solution is even needed or not.

It could be, that if you're early on in the war... that you're hitting those... "happy times" that the U-boat kaleuns had... & Yes, if the AI is such that its set that they begin making you regret having rolled outta bed to board the boat, later on in the war.... say around, tail end of '41... I believe it was... ... then you're well squared away.

As with that point on, U-boats & their crews, literally got their aft ends handed back to them & started that trend of 1 out of 4, surviving.

Hope this info helps...

Are you running any mods ? The escorts and aircraft aren't much challenge even modded, but if you're running stock they're even less so.
But even stock can be made much, much better. In fact, due to some minor escort changes I've added (but didn't do the actual work in creating the info.) to an install some of my most fun in terms of more challenging escorts, campaigns have been with a stock base including the current one.

The aircraft are a lost cause regardless.

+1

Not the only to miss that salient point...though with regards to the 2nd 1/2 of what I posted, is still valid.

The unknown, if they added any other mods, into the mix...

A look see of the jsgme list, would provide more... insight, still.

Hey all, thank you for the replies. Here are the additional mods that i have added
_LSH3-2020_SLS_SpecialEffectsBig
_LSH3-2020___Patch_HSIE-V16B1

I see that some of you are acting not surprised that im running lsh2000, is it known for being easier for some reason? if not is GWX recommended over it?
I hope its as you say and its just an artifact of the war still being in its early phases.

Thank you.

No idea about LSH, never run it. I only mentioned it to be sure that is what you were using.
GWX is an outstanding work, all the megamods are; which megamod to use is personal preference. I'm not sure I'd say any one is easier or harder than the other.

Early war the escorts are easier than later.

AS John's noted... each megamod, comes down to... does it meet what the user's looking for. Be it being as real as possible, short of actually having been there (which in some areas... SH from 3 up to the last version SH5... has dropped the ball, there. Mods, help... but can't hit the 100% bell... but, it does help considerably. )... to realistic damages as close as is possible... to anything in between... take your pick.

As the war scenario of your being a kaleun progresses, the escorts do get a bit more difficult. Early on, not so much... again, as pointed out by both John & Myself.

Main thing is... enjoy the ride. No matter which mod mix you decide to roll with... if you have the space & the time for it... give each a run through...

1 set of set ups, that I know is pretty good, is a GWX reworking, offered up by 1 Alex for 1... & ToyotaGT86. Both of which can be tracked down here on subsim.

These 2, are complete, unzip, decide where you want them to be located (mind you, make sure to NOT install inside of Program files (either one... files or files (x86 ) ) & roll with them.

Hope this info helps...

At the beginning of war, I would say it’s normal as the escorts were not dangerous at all for the u-boats.
From 1943 to 1945 should be harder. But keep in mind the threats #1 were the planes, not the destroyers.
Of course the megamod you’re playing can be easier or harder.
LSH3 is probably the easier in my opinion.
Onealex could be the hardest, or Ccom12 slightly modded.

Then the anti-sub a.i., is working, fully as intended to... in simming the difficulties faced by kaleuns... back then.

Just remember, that 3 of 4, that served in the kreigsmarine aboard u-boats... never made it home.

If, you're fortunate, to make it to wars end... that, is quite an accomplishment.

Go very deep, silent running, one knot. You'll get away then.

I Play with OneAlex1.52, Toyotagt86 2.1 and CCoM12. OneAlex and Toyotagt86 are very very easy to setup and offer some pretty tuff gameplay (for me that is). OneAlex1.52 can be a bear (a grizzly) from 43 on. Before 1943 it's still pretty tuff but you'll survive to fight another day. Haven't got past 42 yet on Toyotagt86 to have an opinion there, but it's been great so far, and I haven't been disappointed. Both of these supermods offer a lot of challenges. Now for CCoM12, haven't got'n into 1942 too far, yet, but it's still very entertaining and challenging also, especially when it comes to the Allied Aircraft. CCoM12 takes a little more to setup, but it's worth it and it is, pretty easy to setup anyway. If ya went some pretty sweet "eye candy" (and who doesn't) to go along with a already challenging game, then all 3 supermods will deliver. They are beautiful. Hope my 2 cents helps.
