I've read on Wikipedia that the USN has bases in Yokosuka, Sasebo and Okinawa in Japan, and Jinhae in South Korea. However, in the list of USN submarine bases in the West Pacific, other than Guam, none of these bases show up. Does that mean USN submarines can't operate out of Japan/South Korea, or is Guam specially designed to handle submarines along with surface ships? Just curious.
