Default First post here; Basic quesitons

I have played SH4 for quite awhile, and know my way around the Pacific theater of operations. I play TMO2.0 + RSRDC, manual targeting. I also have played the Trenchboat mod a few times.

I have never played SH3. I do not know the difference between SH3 and SH4 in terms of game play (i.e. attacking).

If I play OM, will I be in a UBoat? If so, how do I master UBoat issues? Do I have to learn SH3 to play OM? Where do I get a SH3 manual online? What is my best source to learn how to target in SH3. I am familiar with maual targeting in SH4, but SH3 has one dial for determining the target's angle or course that looks different, and I have not been able to figure it out.

Not a lot of difference. Germans didn't have a position keeper. The overall tactics are about the same. It's a submarine chasing surface targets. There are detail differences, but they are small, and of course there are always plenty of us to answer specific questions.

Yes, you'll be in a u-boat. The issues are similar. It just looks different. And you have less torpedoes.

No, learning SH3 is not necessary. One is much the same as the other, except SH3 has a messy crew-management system that makes you move each crewmember by hand. SH4 is much better in that respect, and you already know SH4.

As for targetting, I can't help you there. I can't hit the broadside of a supertanker to save my life. The SH3 manual is junk, and you don't want it. The GWX manual is about as good as it gets. It's mainly for SH3, so your overall understanding of the u-boat war will be enhanced, but your understanding of OM will not. OM itself comes with a nice set of read-mes explaining what's what, but of course the best manual is right here. Ask specific questions, get specific answers.

Nice of you to join the dark side.
