Defiant helicopter?

(^ Pardon my deletion, Jim - but I see you already mentioned the V-280 Valor)

That's the one! SB-1 Defiant Compound Helicopter

"The Sikorsky–Boeing SB-1 Defiant (stylized as "SB>1"; company designation S-100) is the Sikorsky Aircraft and Boeing entry for the United States Army's Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program to replace the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk. It is a compound helicopter with rigid coaxial rotors, powered by two Honeywell T55 turboshaft engines; it first flew on 21 March 2019.

But then the US Army selected the rival Bell V-280 Valor as the winner of the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program."

Over to Eichhörnchen!

My knowledge on aerodynamics is very small.

Maybe one of you could enlighten me what purpose the propeller on the back has ?

^ to make it faster.
With two rotors you do not need a correctional "lateral" propeller to keep the helicopter from turning, so they were free to add one to push the 'copter forward faster (apart from only using the tilt of the rotors for speed).
I do not quite understand why they did not use jets, but i guess it was about quick maintenance in the field, and spare costs.

Still the "Valor" won, and i think because of higher speed and range -

The "Valor" does have some disadvantages though, it needs more place to land when the Black Hawk and the Defiant were able to land on the spot even in forests, their rotors being capable of cutting branches up to 4 inches.
