Default Have Hit A Brick Wall

I've gotten an old itch back. I want to play the SHCE again and am having trouble trying to figure how to get it running in DFend reloaded. When trying to mount a virtual c drive I get a message about command won't work in secure mode. It's been a number of years since I've worked with dos and have forgotten much of typing the key commands.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use DFend Reloaded...

It's as simple as that. Use DOSBox instead. I have it running perfect on DOSBox.

Thanks, Red October. That's much better. Now all I have to do is wade through the dos commands.

I put all of the SH1 game files in a folder labeled SH1, stuck it in my main DOS Games folder and just started up dosbox and I was able to play it.

OK, I've got the SHCE installed and am able to run the game. Still don't have sound yet but will get to that after I ask a question. I'm trying to mount SH in DosBox permanently so I don't have to type in the mount command every time I play using the following command line;

"C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74\DOSBox.exe" -userconf -c "mount c c:\games\silent" -c "c:"

When typed in I get: Illegal Command: "C:\Program.

Could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I've never used dosbox. Do you install SHCE using dosbox or using windows?

I used DosBox, I'm unable to install the SHCE in Windows. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm running Win 8 Pro 64-bit.

What is the folder that you have mounted currently? Whatever folder it is...put the game's folder in that folder. I can just start up DOSBox and type /dir and see all the games I have installed. Then you just /cd SH1 and run the .exe file

Works just fine for me.
