On February 10, 1945, USS Batifsh SS-310 (Balao) under LCDR John K. Fyfe, sunk the first of three enemy submarines over the course of three days in Babuyan Islands off Northern Luzon, Philippines.

In one of the WW II's rare sub vs sub engagements,
BATFISH, prompted by ULTRA intelligence, was in position to interdict submarines evacuating personnel and valuables from the Philippine Islands.

The dramatic 76 hours of action included storms combined with night time, severely limiting visibility, one of the submarines literally surfacing in front of Batfish at a range 3000 yards at night, unaware of Batfish's presence, a "hot run" by one of the torpedoes stuck in the tube, threatening to destroy the submarine and more The BATFISH's Radar Warning Equipment played a role as when their SJ surface search radar did not detect the submarines on the surface, they were able to locate them by radar signals.

There is a excellent book titled "In the Course of Duty" by Don Keith, about the Batfish's career and the interesting story of how the submarine ended up a museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma of all places. If have not, worth the read.

In TMO 2.5 Update mod, three AI submarines representing those engaged by Batfish are at historic time and location (within limits of the sim), they have radar so with APR-1 on US Sub, can use this to locate them as Batfish did her prey. Interesting to see if as player can locate and sink all three subs in same time period. Not a easy feat actually, subs are tough targets and now they can fire torpedoes back at you.
