Searching for items under 4 characters?

Just curious as to why the search character limit is set at 4 characters. Can the old mysql server not handle the additional traffic when searching for 3 chacters?

Seriously though, there are tons of acronyms (especially since this message board is about sea sims) and I can't search for any of them. No use looking for information about GWX, OLC, MEP, AoB, etc... as the site won't let me find them.

This is especially difficult when searching the download section as finding mods that only have 3 characters is impossible without browsing through everything.

Thoughts?

I don't know the answer, but one way around it is to use Google. At the bottom of the 'Advanced Search' screen is a field labeled 'Search within a site or domain:'. Type in 'subsim.com' and it will give you a much broader range of items.
