Thanks (belatedly) Chris.

After not having computer access I started modding ships again with Wings3d; I am not having as many problems getting the models imported.

I just managed to create a "stripped down" version of the "Biyo Maru" from SH4. Although this doesn't sound like much it is a pretty big breakthrough; now I can use it as a "parent unit" for more realistic looking ships - just like how I used the SH3 Liberty Ship to create the 40-50+ ships in the Merchant Fleet Mod beta.

Research on U-Boats & more important units is also ongoing, of course. I hope to find more shots showing the submarines at an angle, b/c profile drawings don't always give a good idea of how a sub was shaped.

hey all... just a quick note for those who are interested... i've held off on modelling my ww1 series of ships as i continue to try and reduce the poly counts and still keep the details... for anyone that downloaded my models from sharecg i'll be putting out a "fixed" version of my USS Wilkes 4-piper destroyer that fixes some issues wit the mapping shortly... i'll continue my large surface unit models once i accomplish a lower poly model i'm happy with... in the mean time i've ben doing WW2 Armour... which has kept me busy.... lol

I'm glad to hear things are progressing smoothly again here... keep up the great work! i'm realy looking forward to the end results

I am away from home right now but I will resume work on the mod right after New Year's. Spent a lot of time researching British and French pre-dreadnoughts & old battleships; everyone knows about the "Invincible" & "Lion" but I want some really unique targets.
Unique targets...Agincourt is going to be in, right?

She's my personal favorite, because I love midships turrets (even though they weren't very practical). I will try to get multiple ship classes done first, however - then, if there's time, important "one-shots" like "Dreadnought", "Agincourt", & others.

Oh wow, if you are doing the Britannic and Olympic that would totally make SHIV totally awesome! Maybe you should think about doing Maurentania or Lusitania.

Yes; I have studied plans of the "Britannic" closely. Generic liners are a priority right now, but if there is time I will work on famous ships. A couple WIP shots from this week's work (also posted on the WWI: Total War modding thread at www.twcenter.net). I am not sure about the maximum rotational arcs for the BCs' midship turrets - if you know, feel free to contribute.

Default Invincibles Wing Turrents

Standard figures for SeeKrieg are 105 degrees or 120 degrees. I think the difference is IMHO is a safety margin. 120 degrees was possible, but 105 was probably operational norm.

Thanks! I'll enter that using S3ditor.

Update on the model, with a texture applied. The main guns are really Japanese 14"; I will either shrink the barrels slightly or build a different turret from scratch.

The Saftey stops were hammered home at about 100 degrees usually, which gave a margin for blow back error, not all the shells were made correctly even at the best of founderies and there were accidents and it was especialy needful to be careful in the heat of battle when things got heated up. Great ship! very very nice.

Starboard profile of the RMS Aquitania. Not very detailed but I hope it could be useful!
