Hundreds of British citizens being flown back to the UK from Wuhan on Thursday will be put in quarantine for two weeks.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has instructed officials to put them in quarantine for two weeks - possibly at a UK military facility.

201 American's have been flown from Wuhan China, but the plane has now been diverted and has now arrived at a military base outside LA

The plane's 201 passengers underwent two sets of health screenings upon arrival in Anchorage, and all were approved to continue on to California, officials said in a press briefing early Wednesday morning.

Passengers erupted into cheers once they were all cleared, officials said. Authorities had said earlier that anyone who got sick en route to Alaska could be separated from the group in Anchorage and flown onward independently.

All passengers were also screened twice before leaving China, said officials.

Upon arrival in California, all passengers will be quarantined for at least three days and monitored by the CDC, per authorities. Those who show signs of the illness and need to be tested could be held for as many as 14 days.

While around 4,500 people have been sickened in China, the CDC said on Monday that the disease is "not spreading" in the U.S. There have been five confirmed cases so far -- all of whom traveled to Wuhan.

When coronavirus made headlines most biotech stock, even those with absolutely no chinese connections, saw a spike in their share price. While others of mine took a header.

If they already "found" a cure, that suggests they knew about this particular virus months before its outbreak.

Suspicious at best ... that Canadian company (Kane Biotech) has been working on a cure for animals for a couple of years and already has a huge order for it pet line product from China before this news broke.

MOSCOW (REUTERS) - Russia and China are working to develop a coronavirus vaccine and Beijing has handed over the genome of the virus to Moscow, a Russian diplomatic mission in China said on Wednesday.

The death toll in China from coronavirus rose to 132 on Wednesday with the number of confirmed cases now at nearly 6,000.

"Russian and Chinese experts have begun developing a vaccine," the Russian consulate in Guangzhou city said in a statement.

170 out 7,186 of makes it 2.3657% fatality rate....so far; 233 out of 12608 = 1.8480% a drop in the rate! EBOLA reported 28616 cases of which 11,310 died 39.5233 %!! Modern outbreaks of plague in 1997 reported 5,419 cases of which 274 died: 5%; and again in 2003, of which 182 died: 9%. The Medieval Black death plague (1340's)which also started in Asia is estimated to have killed 40%.The population was 200 years regaining the pre-endemic population count! ...considering Mother Nature 'calls the ball' we're in good shape here, assuming our Sino-friends are reporting acurately...

Hmm.... ok, but I think to get the actual mortality rate, you would need to factor in the day the patient gets sick, and the day he dies, which could be weeks later.

Say for example, you take the number of deaths on Jan 29 divided by the number of patients who were reported infected ~7 days earlier.

Wouldn't that be a more accurate rate of deaths? The patient does not die on the day he gets infected. So the number of deaths is always catching up to the number of infected.
