reportedly there was one; but Mercury's were the intended vehicle...lately, BMW and Tesla have promoted somewhat similar 'gizmos'...and that's practically givin' it away!

So we are not looking for a car make and model? Must have something to do with that weird thing stuck on the right.

Is this device a little crazy ? like Tesla's Bioweapon defense mode, handy to have just in case Kim Jong-un sends over something nasty in his new long range missiles ( Its actually proven useful in the wake of the Forest fires in the US ) I think if you ordered it as an optional extra due to worrying about some kind of chemical warfare it would be a little over the top

The only thing I can think of which could link the 60's and todays tech is maybe driverless/autonomous devices. Is that anywhere close ?

not an autonomous steering device. More a short-lived deviation from the norm...; big hint: the nickname for this shortlived gizmo implied the possible need for carpal tunnel remedies.

in looking up Magic Fingers automotivwise, that's in the '90's...my puzzle is from the mid-sixties...Mercuries. And when I say 'mid'...I really mean it!

Never heard of it and I was on the wrong track the whole time.

Might be too easy but what is this?
