Is the water supposed to be an improvement or simply 'different'?

I think it's a lot better too. Darker, more vibrant. That said, I still use the older version, 0.9.

I've tried SH5 Water a few times, but it seems unrealistically bright under the surface. Is it that way it is with you guys? Maybe it's because I have M.E.P. going, but I did apply the water afterwards.

Check out my 'Brunsbuttel' pictures in Post #9700. That's the way it looks for me most of the time. My pictures just above are not as good because it's at an angle in very bright daytime, so there's more glare.

The water looks the same as your images in post #9700, above the water. It's when I view the sub with the camera underwater where it's an excessively bright blue, where I can see the boat quite a distance.

In any case, it's dark while viewing it underwater now, so I'm good. (Got it working halfway between posting this.) Before it was extremely light-colored baby blue.

Ah, I see. I used SH3 Commander to make the water so foggy that from the bow of the boat you can barely make out the conning tower. Then again I take some screenshots, but other than that never use the underwater view.

I adjust the gamma and turn the clarity down in Commander so I don't really have an issue with it. For me the 'dark blue' surface helps seal the deal. Much better than anything I've tried before.

Hans, I apologize. It wasn't until I read Fish quoting you that I realized you said "under the surface" the first time.

Old and blind - that's me.

I have something that will blow you all out of the water!

Okay. Returning home from Narvik, I come across a lone S-class submarine (unfortunately, I didn't record the time). Attack! Two torpedoes, boom. Deck gun and AA gone, leaving me to attack with the deck gun.

2 in game hours go by. After hitting it with an additional 5 torpedoes, 180 rounds of 10.5 cm, 800 rounds of 2cm and 350 rounds of 3.7cm AP, I resort to ramming the damn thing.

Now note how light it has gotten on my 4th successful ramming (and 700 3.7cm AA rounds).

Finally, at around 4:00, reinforcements arrive. 4 Stukas come in and swoop in on the target.

That didn't work. At around 5:10, the Luftwaffle tries again with 16 Stukas.

And again at 5:40 with three more.

At this point, the damn thing is making maybe 5 rpm's and the entire boat is black with impacts. How can anyone even be alive on that thing?

I get impatient and crank up the time acceleration. Crash to desktop at around 6:30 - I think another wave of aircraft were inbound. Where can we get one of these boats? I took out the HMS Nelson with "only" four torpedoes earlier in the patrol!

You're operating out of Narvik, but you seem to have Mediterranean aircraft skins enabled.

I prefer the way they look. Realistic? No. BUT NEITHER IS THAT BRITISH SUB.

I've got removing the S class from the campaign files on my to-do list. The first time I torpedoed one, (and then proceeded to watch it stay afloat seemingly indefinitely), it was mildly amusing. Trouble is, it wears thin awfully fast.

I'm hoping to get to this soon, so I can wave bye-bye to the little buggers once and for all.

Just a few random shots from various encounters and so lack a cohesive "storyline". I wish SH3 would hide the "Game Paused" thing to make taking screenshots much easier.
