I find this continued support quite amazing. If I were an American, I would have lost my patience many years ago.

It is not just a question of money, but also of the willingness of the population to defend itself (extrenely low in Germany, for exmaple), and the inefficiency and paralysis caused by the bureaucratic apparatus. Finally, the lack of recruits due to demographic decline after compulsory military service was abolished in many places.

Newsweek's math doesn't add up. not surprising, considering the state of public education system in the U.S.

A large majority said they were either strongly supportive (38 percent) or supportive (30 percent) of continued U.S. membership of NATO. Nineteen percent of respondents said they were indifferent, while only seven percent either opposed (4 percent) or strongly opposed (3 percent) American involvement in the 74-year-old alliance.

6% of respondents disappeared. What happened to the answers of those 90 people?

IMO, NATO should be disbanded, not because I'm an Isolationist, but because the world has changed and NATO has not kept up with it. the Original NATO was formed as a mutual defense pact between 12 countries to counter Soviet expansion into Europe after WWII. Which makes sense, since Europe as a whole was a pile of rubble, both psychologically & physically.

The Soviet Union disbanded in 1991, and yet NATO has expanded from the original 12 members to 31, and from where I sit, has become a repository for bureaucratic red tape, with no clear mission. It is time to disband NATO and come up with something more relevant to todays political landscape, and militarily beneficial to it's members.

The second request for a thirty-day extension by Trump's defense team in the E. Jean Carroll civil rape and defamation lawsuit has been denied. The case is going to trial on this April 25th.

The first was over a concern about local NY hype leading to a biased jury, and denied over evidence that Trump was creating the hype he now was complaining about.

The second concerned E. Jean Carroll's funding for expenses outside attorney fees. Judge Kaplan is giving the Trump team a one-hour deposition of E. Jean Carroll over the issue but denied the extension.

So far they got away cheap, by avoiding a trial in which they would have had to answer a bunch of highly embarrassing questions that would have drawn even more unwanted attention to FOX's myriad shady sides.
