I would assign "sea-going" to some ship, but yes the thing it belongs to is something living in the sea.

^? "Oil shale" (Ölschiefer) alone is not limited to a certain time, nor to sweet- or seawater conditions.
If you mean the time of the lower Jura (especially lias epsilon) the species you are looking for may have lived at the time, but there is no real evidence afaik. edit: some say it has, but there is no fossil record found up to now. edit2: or if, only indirect hints. Hint: the species is (still) well alive today
