Default FC: Rendesvous and Transit Mission Goals

I played the Gulf of Sidra and Strait of Formosa missions tonight, and each of them had vague requirements to "transit S of 32N" or "rendesvous with an oiler"

How do I fulfill those types of requirements? In the Gulf of Sidra, I killed all the enemies, but then I couldn't get the "Transit" requirement to register as complete. Likewise, in the Formosa mission, I brought the cruiser and destroyer to the oiler, but that requirement still showed up as Incomplete.

Am I missing something obvious here? My version of the game didn't come with a manual, so I'm doing a lot of guesswork here.

Hello elephantium.

Welcome to the forum.

Which version of Fleet Command did you buy (Jane's or SCS)?

If I remember right you just haven't got near enough to the location.

It's the SCS version, not Jane's. How do I figure out where the transit location is? Nothing is marked on the map, and in the case of the Gulf of Sidra, I'm never actually given a goal - just the vague "south of 32N" (which, some of my ships start out south of 32N). In the Formosa mission, am I supposed to leave the oiler in place and send the warships to its original location? Am I supposed to bring in the second destroyer from its position near the carrier? It's very confusing to try and "guess the requirements" :/

Finally ... in this forum, is it normal to have to manually type in <br> tags to prevent run-on posts?

If you have got the SCS version the manual is in Manual folder in a .pdf format.

Disc version.

C:\Program Files\Sonalysts Combat Simulations\Fleet Command\Manual\SCS-FleetCommandManual.pdf

Steampowered.

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fleet command\Manual\SCS-FleetCommandManual.pdf

You just need the adobe reader: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

The manual should explain how the place a marker on the map.

About the tags dunno never used them.

Thanks for the pointer to the manual! It opened right up in Foxit.

If I don't type in those tags manually, I don't get any spaces between lines. All the sentences just line up the way these two do.

elephantium:
tell me something, this 2 missions that you are talking about:: the Gulf of Sidra an the Strait of Formosa, are they original missions or missions that other people made?
Sorry i ask, but i dont recall seen this missions in my original FC game, janes game. Well last time i play the game was when it first came out so its been a long time and right now im customizing my comp so i can play it again. ARE THE MISSIONS FROM THE JANE GAME, THE SAME AS THE OTHER VERSION OF SCS FC?
I dont have the other game so i have no idea if is the same game, can you light up the path for me?
Thank you.

They're straight off the CD (SCS version, not Jane's).

So that means the missions are different than the original FC missions?
if they are do you think they will work with the original FC and if they do where can i get them, i cant get my hands on the game, not where i live i cant, thats to bad for me. Let me know if you find some place where i can get them if they work with thet game that is.

Er ... um ... I have no clue. I just mean I haven't tweaked what was on the CD. You'd have a better idea whether the Jane's version of the missions is any different from the rerelease. What I *can* tell you is that what I read on http://www.subsim.com/tips/tipflcom.php matches up with what I see in the missions ... the big problems I'm having are 1) planes randomly dying for no discernable reason and 2) having no bloody clue how to accomplish some of the mission goals (Transit to [location], mostly).

Edit: Just to make sure you know, "Gulf of Sidra" and "Strait of Formosa" aren't the mission titles in the game. In-game, I think the Gulf of Sidra mission is called "A Line in the Sand" and the Strait of Formosa mission is called "Strait and Narrow".

AHH, ok i see the missions now, so they are the same, good.
Now your problem with the planes dieying ramdomly, well it happend to me too, but in my case is that sometimes they fly to the ground, and in some uncanny ocasions thet fly to high that the airplane just blow up and in top of that if the play is very high and go down on a dive the airplain just rip apart by itself, now dont ask me how that happend but it has happend to me and i have seen it on the replay, maybe is a bug, dont know for sure. The other thing about your transit, in the mission thats a pre-define goal, the ships or plains or what ever platform must travel a certain distance to achieve this, if you move out of the path, just give them the ORDER TO RETURN TO STATION AND BE PATIENCE AND YOU SHOULD RECEIVE A "MISSION COMPLEATED" MASSAGE. some missions must travel a certain path to achieve this goal, and some are very long distance, use the time compression and wait you can also use the F5 key and it should tell you what have you acomplish during the mission and what is left to be done, use the top right button to se your progress.
Use the SHIFT+M (upper case M) keys to show your PIM (Points of Intended Movement) lines. This is the intended destination for your group leader and should be followed to complete the mission
GOOD LUCK AND LET ME KNOW IF THAT HELP.

Ah, so that's my problem -- I'm just too impatient for the mission to end once I've blown up the bad guys
