Hard to say best way to do it is try it with a mate in mp have a cargo for target and both head out, then order man the deck gun and see what happens, if ya sink ya mate at least you wont have "wanted dead or alive" over your head.
But sometimes i found if i manned the deckgun myself fired of a few shots then let the crew take over they would continue firing at the same target, its when that target has sunk and they look for another you have to watch out they will target the next closest target - friend or foe. Keep in mind I haven't played MP for ages so this bug might be fixed.
NO this ones not fixed yet I came across it in several posts this week
which is how I found out about it. as we havent done up the mp nission
yet.
