NATO will soon conduct planned exercises of nuclear deterrence forces, - Stoltenberg

In the near future, NATO will conduct planned exercises of the nuclear deterrent forces. They should help prevent a potential escalation from Russia.

As Censor.NET informs, this was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to his video briefing by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"These are long-planned exercises that we conduct annually and have entered into the exercise schedule long before the attack on Ukraine. The Steadfast Noon exercise is aimed at ensuring the effectiveness and safety of our nuclear deterrent forces. Our position is open. It would be strange if we canceled these planned exercises now training because of the war in Ukraine, it would send the wrong signal," said the NATO Secretary General.

He also noted that predictable behavior of NATO countries is a way to prevent escalation. The Alliance intends to maintain peace and prevent attacks on its borders.

"If there were a basis for any misunderstandings in Moscow about our readiness to defend ourselves, it would be a risk for escalation," Stoltenberg stressed.

According to the Financial Times, the week-long Steadfast Noon exercise will involve 14 NATO members and aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons, as well as additional assets such as reconnaissance and refueling aircraft. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3373037

International Criminal Court will investigate Russian missile attack, - CNN

The International Criminal Court (ICC) intends to conduct an investigation into the mass missile attack that was carried out by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.

This is reported by CNN, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

"International law will ensure the punishment of the guilty and all those who, with the help of weapons and missiles, are able to frighten the most vulnerable," said Karim Khan, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

According to him, the law may not be as strong as many would like, but it is not as weak as many think.

"The employees of my office were in the bunkers last night, along with many other civilians. Ukrainian children, women and men. This is an issue that touches on issues of morality, issues of rights and issues of empathy and humanity. We have to be there to get to the truth," - Khan emphasized. More than half of tank fleet of Ukraine consists of trophy equipment, - British intelligence

Russian armed forces abandon heavy armored vehicles during retreat or surrender. More than half of the tank fleet of Ukraine consists of trophy vehicles.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain on Twitter.

As noted in the summary, repurposed trophy Russian equipment currently constitutes a significant part of Ukraine's military equipment. Ukraine is believed to have captured at least 440 Russian main battle tanks and approximately 650 other armored vehicles since the invasion.

According to British intelligence, "more than half of Ukraine's current tank fleet potentially consists of trophy vehicles."

The inability of Russian crews to destroy undamaged equipment before retreating or surrendering shows their poor training and low level of combat discipline. "In the conditions of strong tension of Russian formations in several areas and increasing demoralization of the troops, Russia will most likely continue to lose heavy weapons," the British Ministry of Defense believes. Default Putin afraid of mutiny from generals - former Russian air force officer

A former member of the Russian air force has told BBC News Vladimir Putin is afraid of mutiny from his generals.

Gleb Irisov, who fled the country, is also a former military correspondent for a Russian news agency and says he knows the new commander in charge of the war against Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin.

Speaking to Newshour, Irisov said Surovikin was appointed because of his “deep loyalty" to the Russian regime and president personally.

He added the Russian leader "is now afraid of some kind of mutiny from the generals".

Irisov said he began to oppose the government during his time in the military, observing the "neglect" his command showed towards people.

He described the war as a "catastrophe" for Ukraine and Russia that was dangerous for the world.

Irisov is pessimistic about the chance of change in his home country anytime soon, despite the "huge casualties and severe economic effects" of the war.

The first of 4 German Iris-T systems has been handed over to the Ukraine. Surprise, surprise, originally they wanted to send just one, and not before Decembre, but the Americans and other NATO allies seem to have made pressure behind the diplomatic curtain. If it really is as good as is claimed, Russian missiles should have no chance to get through it as long as the system's firing and reloading capacity is not overwhelmed by "flooding" its defence perimeter wiht missiles. However,m this system is brandnew and not evenm the Germans have in in use. Its thus untested under real world conditions.

The system has a maximum range of 40 km and a maximum altitude of 20 km.

The Ukrainian has high hopes that this Iris-T would be a gamechanger in the air defence.

I'm only interested in the Hit percentage.

Russia fired 75 missiles against Ukraine yesterday-The Ukrainian air defence shot down 30-something.

Going to be interesting to see if the defence will be more effective.

Outside its range, it won't. Its only a 40km radius. They consider this to be a short and medium range, not long range AD. Setting up the system after moving takes 10 minutes. Reloading a launcher takes 15 minutes. The launcher has 8 tubes.

I find no info on how many launchers belong to "one system". With only 8 SAMs against a wave of missiles you do not get too far.

This shows the maximum coverage area. Even four such systems leave many "holes" open. The circle around Cherson has a radius of 40 km, diameter 80 km. In real life conditions I expect the range to be lesser than that.

Thank you Skybird-Though you forgot to quote two sentence

"I'm only interested in the Hit percentage."

"Russia fired 75 missiles against Ukraine yesterday-The Ukrainian air defence shot down 30-something."

Would the hit rate have been higher if they had Iris-T ?

Maybe, Maybe not.

I tried to find info about it on the web-Only thing I found of interest was this wiki page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRIS-T

Russia says it has detained eight people in connection with Saturday's explosion on a key bridge linking Russia to Crimea.

Its FSB security service said five of those held were Russians, while the others were Ukrainian and Armenian.

It says Kyiv was behind the attack but a Ukrainian official described Russia's investigation as "nonsense".

Elon Musk has denied reports he spoke to Vladimir Putin before posting a Twitter poll with his suggestions for ending Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Ian Bremmer, head of the Eurasia Group political risk consultancy, alleged that Mr Musk had personally told him about the conversation with Mr Putin.

But Mr Musk has now refuted this.

"I have spoken to Putin only once and that was about 18 months ago. The subject matter was space," Mr Musk tweeted.

Last week, the Tesla CEO asked his 107.7 million followers to vote on ways to resolve the Ukraine war.

The suggestions included a proposal to hold votes in parts of Ukraine occupied by Russia that the Kremlin says it has annexed. His comments were welcomed by Moscow.

The multi-billionaire said: "Russia leaves if that is will of the people."
