Default Saying goodbye to my old PC

Or perhaps I should be saying "good riddance!" I have an ancient Compaq Presario that I picked up at an auction six years ago, which I've barely used for the past year and a half. 1.2 Ghz processor, 4 mb video card, 512 mb RAM...the damned thing can barely run Dangerous Waters at over 10 FPS with most of the graphics options disabled!

So I'm going to do something I've been planning to do for the past year. I'm going to walk into Best Buy and walk out with the best machine $1000 can buy. No monitor, no keyboard, no fancy package deals, just a box. Finally, I'll be able to play my old games with all of the eye candy enabled without any slowdowns! Then, I'm going to buy SH3 and SH4, and play through a full "vanilla" campaign on each just to get some real subsimming experience in. No, I've never played either, becuase my setup is so old. Sad, huh?

So, wish we luck - compared to my old computer, this is going to be like strapping a warp drive on my Grandma's wheelchair! :rotfl:

For a grand you can build or have built a much better machine than you will get at best buy. Call a local PC shop if your not willing to build your own. You will get a better pc - and local support! Not to mention you won't get all the crap a prebuilt has.

Wait wait!

Best Buy has some good deals but they have you by the you know whats when you are just a walk in.

Please give us a chance! There is LOTS of videos on youtube on how to build a PC. LOTS of guides. Books, etc..

For 1k you can build a SCREAMING quad core 45nm AMD machine.

And by screaming I mean screaming because you will have atleast 2 4850s in Crossfire.

Trust me until you get to 2k there is no comparison in value (At 2k they figure you are a bit smarter than a rich dumbass)

Check this out

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103650 (169 USD)

And as for looks! This case will blow away any OEM!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ll%20R5604-TBK (59 USD)

You still got some parts there to get (Mobo Ram HD) but those arent too expensive and therefore you have plenty of room for two of these badboys!
