Default Das Boot, any info on it guys?

http://www.giantbomb.com/das-boot-ge...tion/61-19965/

I'm not going to lie, never even knew there was a video game for Das Boot until I got bored and surfed around google a bit a few weeks ago. I couldn't find much information about it (you are looking at all the info I could find.) so I decided to ask here. Anyone here ever play this old sim? If so would you recommend or not it for me? How does it compare to other sims like say Aces of the Deep or Silent hunter?

I'm thinking about starting a collection of old sims like this one, maybe an old computer to play them with, I've always had a softspot for retro games and subsims so this should be right up my alley.

And just so I don't look like an idiot, I am right to assume this simulation is based on the movie/book of the same name correct?

Bought it for the Amiga, thought it was pretty much crap. It's one of the first attempts to make a full 3d subsim but the graphics were so slow it was essentially unplayable. The missions were also severely lacking and canned and you never really were told what to do.

Thanks for the replies and the article, kind of let down actually, the images and the fact it's based off Das Boot lead me to believe it was going to be a good one. Seems to have some stuff going for it though, with the whole radio thing and all.

Yeah. Das Boot was a horrible game. They really put no effort into making it.

Can`t say I`m familiar with that game BUT going by the pictures you`ve posted, retro or not its done the movie no favours IMO.

Silent Hunter 2 is what I`m doing right now with the Projekt Schwertfisch soundpack upgrade. Basically, as fat as I`m concerned I`m in the movie`Das Boot`. Its that good (as far as I`m concerned)
