Found a new one! Remember back in SH4 when you could make mouse translate the freecamera camera origin while holding Ctrl? Well they forgot to take it out of SH5!!!

I just lost my entire game progress after Ctrl+Mouse = Viewpoint over ocean = Reboot computer crash.

A fact I only discovered when, after five minutes of carefully plotting a course through the Kiel Canal and setting forth, my boat unceremoniously rammed a pier in Kiel while I was below, talking to the cook. The watch crew did not deign to notify me of the looming peril, or indeed say anything at all until after I'd managed to hike back through the control room and up both ladders to see what we'd struck. My fault for failing to verify that we were actually following a plotted course, but either courses lain on the briefing map should persist or you shouldn't be able to lay one.

when u order a depth, lets say 50 meters, after a while u start *sinking?* cuz i was at like 80 meters after 4 minutes, you sub *sinks* even when u go at full spead ahead underwater... and the stupid German voices that say und-dreissig zwei = two and thirty (that is what it means in English) what im trying 2 say is that that is not cool... it should be zwei und dreissig. and crew members turning around when u talk 2 em, BLIND watchcrew like sailing right into a Taskfoce with a King George Battleship,,, and not warning me AT ALL. and the stupid TDC that like only works when ur under 1000m otherwise the numbers dont match and u cant be sure u hit the ship....

Hey everyone.

I have a problem with my SH5. I can only stay in a mission for about 10 minutes. After that the game freezes and I'm forced to do a hard reboot of the system. In the tutorial this is approx enough time to sink the first merchant and reach the next two boats. After that, screen freezes and sound loops - and I can't do anything short of hitting the reboot switch.

I've been following this thread since release now - but I've not been able to narrow down my problem. I saw someone else experiencing similar difficulties and someone advised him to update his audio drivers. I've done that - and it didn't help. I've also checked the Ubisoft forums. Two guys had the same problem (and it seemed we were all on ATI videocards) but Ubi have not returned with an answer yet. That said, I've always trusted you guys here on Subsim more than any developer - the response here is much better . Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Also, I should point out that I have ruled out overheating. As of today, there's a new fan on the card and it's been properly cleaned. It come up to about 70 Celsius when I play, and that shouldn't be a problem for the game itself.

Default Weird recognition manual pop-up "bug"

Last night while maneuvering around a tanker to get a torp solution (my first intendet target for the "British supplies mission") I encountered what seems like a bug or semi-implemented feature (great news for this sim, heh...).

Whenever I (at the spotting scope station and probably elsewhere too) switched into Nav-map mode and then exited it by pressing W (move left) which returns you to the 3D-walking around mode, a paged recognition manual (NOT the one that is connected to the TDC!) with images of ships (mostly carriers?) in full colour (?) and a clickable option to get an "head on image" as well, pops up, cowering most of the lower left quarter of my screen. I'm running low res due to performance problems, don't know how big it would be otherwise.

The close button [x] in the manual window doesn't work. Only way to close it (and continue my attack) was to press Ctrl and click at the very edge of the screen right next to the "advanced" depth setting. I also recall that the first time i triggered this pop-up was whan I was tinkering with that advanced depth setting. After that though, it only showed after "exiting nav-map by moving left".

Anyone else seen this? Could it be leftover code from previous versions (SHV is my first of this series)? It sort of looks as if it doesn't "rhyme" with the rest of the GUI.

I'm keep you posted if I see it again.

Turning the radar is painfully slow, it turns in the opposite direction in which you turn the wheel and the radar screen is in english (SH4?).

Besides, I think it's broken because I couldn't find any contacts.

But at least it has the only three klickable switches in the sub! Yay!

With the SH4 Gui mod you can open the RecManual with a button, but you can only browse american warships.

Yeah, my hydrophone guy nicely reported a merchant contact (with KDG while surfaced ) that was not even within visual range. Good guy.

The bad thing is, this happened while a DD was shelling my sub and friggin NOBODY warned me about it. No ship sighted, no hydrophone contact while I was submerged shortly before (DD was not in blind spot)!

Default Probs so far after 1 hour

Observation and attack scope key commands reversed pg up pg dn is the observation scope instead of the attack scope in the tower which is delete and insert.

Numpad 0 doesn't work so I can't centre the rudder

I can't find the option for German voices, there is no option for it in sound settings and I did a complete install. Had I chose a custom install, I could have chose German voices but I wasn't sure if the text would be in English so I chose to do a complete install instead.

If anyone is having this particular problem, I might have worked it out. It seems that if I close all unnecessary applications with the task manager the game runs fine. I've only tried it in the single missions so far - I'll report back when I've tried the campaign as well.

I don't know which app that is at fault here. But I'm beginning to suspect some of the ATI apps... This seem to be a Radeon 1950X problem so it could have something to do with the Catalyst Control Centre or something else v-card related.

Just thought I should share.

After a few CTD's I've made a decision to reinstall.

I deinstalled the game, deleted my local saves and reinstalled the game.
Then when the game was back online, the savegames are synchronized and all are available under load save games.

But now, with every save-game I load, it begins with the wake up scene from the tutorial, no matter if it's night or day or where my position on earth is, the Kaleun is on the bridge and whish to talk with me
