Trying to help a friend make a major decision ... Aktungbby is a friend, right? What's wrong with this country? Sure you can live cheaper down there, but is that on your Homeland Security retirement plan and SS for both you and your wife? Have you been watching the Travel Channel too much again?

Just a few facts I found ... Would you like a permanent house guest? I could help out with some expenses like food and utilities. I have VA disability income too ... Don't make me beg.

Why didn't Noah swat that mosquito?

^ Yeah that: but here's the key issue. http://www.expatfocus.com/expatriate-costa-rica-banking Nuthin' worse than a Latin American sudden privatization ala Cuba or Venezuela. Just like Jimbuna's Indian Takeawy, it could make my 'Colon' hurt sodaspeke

Default The stuff they don't teach you in driving school

^NAH you're the man for the job given your ex-law enforcement driving skills etc. Parents tend to be too easy going; I (ex-trucker, UPS man, squadcar etc) took mine (an only child-so I can't afford to lose one) over a nasty stretch known as Oakville Grade while she was also basic training at the local driving school. Complete with 12 miles of mountain curves, steep grades, and 'S' 180 turns-in both directions!!! Constant speed monitoring, use of gears downshift and absolute alertness on no-shoulder cliffside lanes for long control descent...everything! The poor lass complained to her pitiless mom (who's own daddy owned a truck company) and her driving school what 'daddy was doing' : the school responded: "GOOD!" After she reasonably completed the route in both directions (in my '86 Camry), I congratulated her on passing my driving course! A year later when up in Oregon at college, my daughter-just home for Christmas-confessed "dad you were right... all the roads are like that up here. I'm the only one I trust to do the (designated ) driving.!" One of the few arguments I've won: now all the neighbors take their own beginner kids up the Grade to do the same thing.

Caterham Seven
Done! < what the mazda is doing I do in a 5 speed stick Corolla but that's not for novices. I've been using the road for 30 years for commutes in all conditions.. Deer, road washouts, and clouds/ fog are particular hazards as are fallen redwoods. Twice Truckers have clogged the 'S' curves with their 18 wheelers, for several hours, requiring a wrecker and first responder me to divert local traffic. That boo-boo goes with citations for crossing one-lane weight-limit bridges. Their GPS's mislead them into believing it's a passable route.! I use the DryCreek-Oakville Grade-Trinity Rd route to get from Napa Hwy 29 to Santa Rosa bound Hwy 12; a steep climb and descent in both directions. Good training for my sojourns to Ireland and recently Scotland's Isle of Skye! https://www.yelp.com/map/oakville-grade-road-st-helena < it even looks bad on the map Caterham $even in the 30K-$70K range??!! http://www.2040-cars.com/Lotus/Super-Seven/

Can't argue with someone who drives on the 'right' side of the road

A lot of fans build those themselves here, using whatever engine they can get their hands on.
