Anyone know of a good quality model (plastic or resin) and a reliable dealer (US) to purchase it from?

I would also suggest Squadron.com

they have a huge (perhaps a better description would be ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE) selection of models, anything you can think of for some wonderful prices you really can't find anywhere else.

Thanks for the info. I've ordered from Squadron before and have always been happy with their customer service; checked the site before posting here - no joy on the type XXI (in 1/700).
