Default PK help, I’m rusty!

Hey all,

As a big fan of the O’Kane method, I don’t use the PK much. That said, I had an encounter where a merchant turned late and only one of my fish hit on the initial attack. After he went a little squirly he settled back down on a steady course and I was still in good enough position for a slow Mk14 shot close to zero gyro and about a 120 degree track angle from about 3,300 yds. In the moment I thought engaging the PK was the way to go (but now realizing that I prob could instead setup for another constant bearing attack, just at the less than ideal setup angles).

Anyway, now I want to figure out my PK issue. Daylight attack so using sonar only I replotted a few marks to confirm course, speed, and AOB. Setup the TDC, turn on PK, then continued sending range and bearing via sonar multiple times until right up to firing. Popped up the scope and sent 2 slows his way. I tried the setup twice and both times I missed waaaay aft. After the second time I looked closer at the TDC and noticed that the bearing to target on the TDC was way behind what sonar was calling out. So in that moment I again I tried sending range and bearing to the TDC. Range updated, but bearing remained 7 degrees behind what sonar was calling out.

Clearly there’s a step or logic flaw I’m missing on getting the correct bearing to the TDC via sonar only. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
