Default Setting eel depth in stormy waters.

Hello all,
I've latched onto a 10k ton Kawasaki class tanker, 8.7m draft in very rough seas (and nil viz too) and watched 5 of my precious fish swim under my target at depths from 6 to 3 meters w/impact pistol.
I almost killed the cook, remembered in time we have to eat and sacrificed the most junior torpedo man instead. Examples must be made in these difficult times.

Then I recalled some vague memory of some simple rules for depth settings that I 'think' apply in this situation but I can't find them now. Anyone recall them? Or maybe just set the things to run at zero? Really want to stick one in this Tommy, they're covered in vaseline, he'll enjoy it. Plus I don't want to send any more men over the side, BDu gets testy about it.
Thanks!

If you're using H.sie's patch, set your depth at a minimum of .4 x the wind speed. I.e., 10 meters/sec would be 10 x .4 = a depth setting of 4 feet or slightly more.
But if the seas were heavy in your scenario, it could just be the exaggerated bouncing and rolling SH3 rubber ducky behavior of the ships causing the torpedoes to go under the ship.
There is a patch to help with that if desired. Info. here.

Thank you for the answer. I have tried to run that patch but it always makes the game fail to start. I've sent 2 more torps to their doom at the bottom of the Atlantic set at 3 and 1 and both went under. Crazy.

It's easy to set up his and Stiebler's patches. Be glad to help if needed.

I got him.
This turned into a Moby Dick style chase.
I'll follow him around the Horn, and around the Norway maelstrom, and around perdition's flames before I give him up.

2 and a half days, zero (in reality about 500 meters) visibility the whole way, sprint, submerge, ad nauseum, almost 900 km (AL 9893 to BF 1237) and through 2 course changes I tracked this tanker. He was doing 10 knots so most of the time it was all I could do to keep pace.

Once the waves flattened out I started closing in, the viz was still crap but that's fine, an aircraft or DD would have brought the chase to an end.
3 more eels from 400 yards, all hit. 8 total expended on this ship.We have 2 left. I am going home.
