Default Obnoxious sound issue

Howdy,
I am using One Alex and Windows 7. The game sound keeps getting 'stuck' on the surface storm/waves sounds and I hear it no matter submerged and on the hydro or whatever. It's always there and it's obnoxious. Can something be done?

Are you leaving the game and "shelling-out" to Windows to do email and U-Boat research, along with visiting SubSim dot com while playing the game? If you do a game Save, as per usual SH3 pre-requisites, exit the game, re-start the game and then Load the Save, does the sound return to normal?

Guilty on all counts! I even only save while surfaced cause I read somewhere doing it when submerged can cause issues.

The Save is one way to attempt to restore "normal" sound reaction. If your sound doesn't restore after doing that, then something else might be amiss, or your Save has something wrong in it... The main thing is to avoid "shelling-out" to Windows as much as possible, and when you do, to remember that you might encounter "issues", no two instances of which will be the same (usually). One time you might have a cloud of 'steam' following you about, another time it might be the crew refusing to come indoors when the boat dives, etc. you just never know what will happen, if anything. Some fellows can get away with putting the game on Pause and then going to Windows. Others cannot. It somewhat depends upon the computer configuration, and how strong the computer is, hardware-wise. For the most part, I cannot shell-out in SH3 at all, except on the new laptop. My SH4 installs are not as bad, but I have two computers with SH4 which shelling-out will fail on almost every time.

Also, keep in mind that when you use high TC for long periods, sometimes sounds get in a loop...
