A story about my cat. This happened some years ago.

Was watching a program on tv, this warm summer day, when I suddenly heard my cat came in and she sounded like she was badly wounded I almost dropped my coffee cup. Rushed up to see what's happen to my little female cat...She had caught a mouse.

She does that every time, sound like someone had tortured her, when she came home with a mouse, bird, butterfly or some other small creature.

Yes our cat does that, they are looking for approval and praise, when done lavishing it they gorge themselves!! Tis funny!

Unfortunately our cat recently had to be put down (feline aids), we are looking for a kitten but it is in the middle of winter here so will have to wait.
Your story is great, some animals are very close to their owners and sense trouble, I think ours would have.

^ The cat look almost like my cat, same colour on the fur except the face. My female cat is a little different.
