Does it have twin tailfins (as per the Messerschmitt Bf 110)?

Not exactly experimental, there were a few built. The later type was built very often.
Not this type, but a lot of successors. Quote:
Generally we need the exact designation of this plane.

Two engines, two props just like the ME (BF) 110, but it is not a Messerschmitt.

In 1941 or 42 Hitler gave (name of company) the task to develop a bomberplane that could fly from the Atlantic coast in France to the US east coast and back on one tank of fuel.
This company manage to develop such a plane-but Hitler came up with so many changes that it lost this possibility. I wonder if it is this plane ? Markus

This is it !
Also called the "Flying pencil" due to its sleek lines. "The photograph above shows the Dornier 17 in its original form when this type was designated as the V1 (Versuchsflugzeug = Test aircaft). As a twin engined aircraft, it had clean and sleek lines that gave it the appearance of a fast aircraft, which was asked it it as a fast six passenger mailplane, and rejected by Lufthansa who's test pilots agreed that it was not suitable for carrying passengers." Then it is said it was never intended for passenger service, but as a bomber right away. Not exactly a prototype because a few were built, but the later appearance changed drastically... https://www-flugrevue-de.translate.g...x_tr_hist=true https://www.battleofbritain1940.net/0018.html Well done Jim, over to you
