I figured I'd not go there... but yeah.

Maybe they're giving this "respect your customer" stuff a shot. They recently stated that their PC sales are down 90%, so it's pretty safe to say their fancy DRM didn't exactly improve things. (quite the opposite I wager)

In comparison to Anno 1404 it's pretty much the same formula(not necessarily a bad thing), the new bits I did notice is that pollution can affect your crops, and the processes of making products has been stream lined a little bit(in a good way). For construction, I only saw 3 options in the demo, General(which only let me build roads), Tycoon Workers(Houses, city centers, Depots, Distilleries and power), Tycoon Employees(tools). I can't remember how this compares to Anno 1404 as I haven't played in a while(Installing it again).

Back to the streamlining of making products, you click in Tycoon Employees, and there is a tool icon. Click on the tool icon and it brings up a flow chart on how to make the tools, which also lets you place all the buildings required(an Ore mine and an Iron Mine plus a smelter) and then place the building to actually make the tools. I honestly liked it.

The demo was very structured(two campaign missions) so I didn't get to experience the underwater gameplay, or much for that matter, which left me a bit disappointed, but from the looks of it, if it stays true Anno, it'll be a good game.

One thing I did like a lot was the whole futuristic feel, flying cars, giant grinders, the farms are all robotic, the depot has a cran, etc.

Also the menu feels like your actually dealing with a future operating system.

Giving the fact that it appears you need to be online to get the most out of the game, I doubt they've learned. Mind you, it was the demo, but still 90% of the functions said "You need to be online to access this" and in the top corner it states your online status.

I'm sure they are still desperately trying to justify their DRM, but a PC demo, removing their DRM from SH5... there's been a few half-decent choices lately.

One can hope, right?

The good:
Role playing plenty of quests, beautiful game world, mindless shoot em up, can play both races.

The bad:
Driving is insane, flying is insane, mindless shoot em up. Don't play this game if your trying to give up smoking...
