Default I HATE THE BuOrd WITH THE POWER OF A THOUSAND SUNS!!!!!

I just ran into a task force with a battleship only protected by a single destroyer.(I guess they had been on a training exercise and figured that more weren't needed.) I got a lucky hit that destroyed the BB's props but EVERY SINGLE TORPEDO BESIDES THAT ONE WAS A DUD!!!!!

(I'm using Bubblehead1980's realistic torpedo mod for those wondering.)

Captain Admiral Halsey:

There is nothing wrong with our torpedoes. Do we have to send you back to school to teach you how to shoot straight? Please stop making excuses and BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!!!

Sounds like something they would have said.(Even though the odd's of missing all but one torpedo on a ship that's dead in the water is less likely then a RL Sharknado)

I stopped doing that after my third patrol. Though with nearly 50 patrols under my belt I have yet to take the plunge and tick the "Manual targeting" option.(Mainly due to the fact I like hitting my target.)

You expect to hit your target? Where's the fun in that?

Go on tick "manual targeting", you'll be glad you did.
[OK, maybe you won't... just a thought.]

The game totally changes when you choose manual targeting (holy COW I love the Go Keyboard on this tablet.). Please visit my Sub Skipper's Bag of Tricks Thread to learn the Dick O'Kane manual targeting technique. You can set up your TDC. a half hour before you shoot! And from then on all you're concerned about is positioning your boat and pushing the fire button(s).

It takes no math you can't handle in your head in five seconds, takes no extraordinary skills and you'll be putting targets on the bottom in half an hour. It truly is as easy as automatic targeting.

What angle(s) were the torpedoes fired at? date? I purposely didn't disclose the angles that reduce duds(figured it was too much of a give away) but can look it up if want to know, it's historically accurate. If can't determine that way and must know, PM me.

I am working on a timed message from comsubpac advising about the firing angles concerning duds as well as ordering magnetic features deactivated. I believe in TMO these messages came through but in RSRD, does not.Shocked this was omitted from RSRD actually.

I had a shot at a a carrier leaving Truk yesterday(January 30, 1942) unescorted but making high speed, luckily I was in front and able to get close but too close to track, had to go for stern tube shot. One prematured, other appeared to hit but was in fact a premature explosion, which alerted the carrier, it avoided one, other ran right under , but no explosion until about 20 seconds after it passed under lol.

I think most of them hit at around a 45 degree angle.(I was trying to avoid that destroyers sonar.) The one that hit the props was fired from directly behind the BB.(I risked a deep runner on that one.)

"Though with nearly 50 patrols under my belt"

50? I lost count of how many patrols I have been on. I probably did 50 the first month I received the simulation... I couldn't tell you how many years ago that was.

This maybe a little wide of the topic, but I can't resist. I've been playing Silent War , and if anything the torpedo situation in that game is worse. In the early months of the war, some boats go out on patrol, come back, only having sunk a small enemy ship -- and those are the successful ones! Japanese battleships arrogantly cruise the Pacific, daring my submarines to waste their torpedoes on their hulls. Sometimes my boats see them, and I am tempted to attack, but then I think - why bother.. they're unsinkable.
