Crew Help
Crew questions:
Afternoon group…….am getting a fair handle on most items, but need some more guidance on crew management. What happens when crew member reaches max. exp level? Am assuming the 2nd set of numbers of the A/B equation is the max. potential experience at that rank (?) Are promotions (PO2 to PO1, for instance) automatic? It seems that over 4 patrols, all I have are PO1’s and Seamen1st (one new hire Seaman3rd….cause he had good leadership ) Almost all Seamen and PO1’s have max or near max experience levels. Granted…..not really complaining, but in RL, a certain amount of crew were released for new boats. Will HQ ever demand rotating a percentage of trained crew for new crew ? Efficiency explanation? ??/?? (+??) I understand the resting/sleeping, maintanance and on watch, relationships to efficiency levels, but is there something in the formula that show’s the crew member may be a slacker?? Have noticed the Lt. officers (XO, Engineering officer…..) have 0/20000 experience numbers. How does this work? Why do they not gain experience? Thanks for any help on this stuff. |

lotsa questions.
i will answer them in order...see below. Welcome to Subsim. Quote:
Kaleuns are limited in the number of officers/NCOs they can have on board as well as limited to the number of rated petty officers. that limited number will depend on your SH4 configuration (mod-set) and boat type. Quote:
the first number is the experience level and the 2nd, as you have pointed out, is the max. Quote:
browse to \Data\UPCData\UPCCrewData\Ranks.upc. open that file with Notepad or Notepad+ or any plain-text-editor. do NOT change anything until you have a bit more experience as changes will affect your current career, etc. ok, for each rank you will see a line: LevelUp= there are three valid values: Free, Base, and Restricted. Free means that when a crewmember with that rank reaches the maximum experience they are automatically promoted as long as there are billets available. Base means that you must promote the crewman the next time you are at your home base, again subject to availability. Restricted means that the rank is reserved for assignment by SH4 only. this is the reason that LT does not gain experience towards Lt Cdr because Lt Cdr is Restricted. Quote:

See the answer about Ranks above.

Thank you.......that explains alot. So far, there hasn't been anybody on the replacement screen worth trading for. Except the one Seaman3rd, who did seem to have an extra high leadership skills for a Seaman (60)
If I were to send a CPO to the replacement pool, with the idea of trading for certain better skills CPO, could an onboard PO1 with max experience automatically get promoted, first? Last question...... In the efficiency dept. what do the numbers in parentheses (+x) represent? Thanks again!! |
