Default PCI x16 3.0 gfx on PCI x16 1.0 slot?

I have problem!!!

I have found that my motherboard

Asus Pk5pl Am In Roem Si has pci x16 1.0 version, i wanted to buy HD 6670 or 7730 but I am afraid if they will make issues on 1.0 slot
I know they SHOULD BE backward compatible but one guy who works as computer tehnician told me that 3.0 gfxs knows to make issues on 1.0 slot.

I am really afraid to upgraid to anything now
AM i stuck with bloody Integrated piece of s***?

Default Will have problems

You will have problems. I had issues when I bought a PCI-E 2.0 card, and my MB at the time was 1.0. You could boot into windows for a bit, but it would eventually blue screen. If I remember right, there are electrical changes between the 3 versions.

It seems to work the other way around just fine. I've run a 2.0 card on a 1.0 board without trouble, and currently run a 3.0 card on a 2.0 board without trouble. So yes, they are backwards compatible, though I can't guarantee it will work without trouble for others; no experience with it beyond my own.

I have seen somewhere that bios update fixes that issue MOST OF TIMES ( not always )

The backward compatibility works with slots ver 1.2 if i remember.
In some cases it is possible to update/flash your BIOS.
