At Sunday's rehearsal we tried out a new member. A keyboard player. Female. Mara was with a band we did shared shows with a couple of times. They broke up. She likes our music. She picked right up on several of our songs, and we quickly learned a couple of hers. She plays well, she sings well, and she harmonizes well. The only potential drawback is that we work hard and rehearse twice a week with a vocal practice minus the drummer on a third day. She is a bit more laid back than that. She also is talking to another group who do more upscale indy-type music, which she is also into.
What comes of it all remains to be seen.

Drinking a nice mug of coffee and then give my hands a work out breaking the backs of my new shoes, that or wear a ton of plasters.

I was just sitting with a cup of tea and Moira told me how she'd seen some nice balls of crochet yarn in B&M Stores for £2.99 each. She said there were some lovely colours including a really nice grey which would've been ideal for a rustic shawl... but she's just made one of those. She said maybe she could use it to crochet a cowl, or even a jumper... although despite it being a very good price, that might take anything up to five balls and it could then begin to look like a very expensive jumper.
I asked her why she was telling me all this.

Don't go there, what goes on a women's mind is a unsolved mystery to this day.

A women's mind is a funny place, especially when she's in the mood to shop for shoes ...

A friend stopped by with a bottle of grog for me tonight; he's been laid off at work, so it wasn't my usual brand. Things have been pretty slow for me too lately, so a story he told me about some friends of his gave me an idea for a business we could maybe both go into and make lots of money.
These friends of my friend carefully giftwrap empty boxes before every Christmas, and if one of their kids is bad on the run-up they toss one of these 'presents' into the log-burner... it's so cruel isn't it? But after I'd finished laughing, I said to him why not giftwrap a few cheap toys from the thrift-shop, bundle them up with a piece of four-by-two and sell them as Christmas "Naughty Boy" kits... when one of the kids is naughty, Dad takes a box outside and pounds it to dust with the piece of wood? Can't fail, can it?

Aside from the above;
Doubting Eichs new adventure re:smashing kids presents, seems like a no win situation to me. Kid behaves bad you smash his/her present, kid behaves like a saint in a click of the finger, you have to replace said smashed presents @Quatro Your fascination with womens shoes worries me !!! |
