You said acquiring firearms in the United States is questionable.

In what way?

Don't know maybe it is too easy for anyone to get firearms...not enough education?.
People often don't realize what they carry in their pans and how easily murphy law takes over.
They go shopping acquire this cool holster with trigger guard and think all is good.
You can not carry loaded gun without being aware ALL the time that you actually are caring loaded gun.
There times and places for that but not shopping malls.

All i can say is - there is a lot of training and certification to go through to get the concealed carry permit.

I cannot help that this woman carried in the way she chose to. thats unfortunate.

all i can point to are the millions of concealed carry folks who went home today, had dinner with their families, watched a little tv and thats the extent of their happenings today... we dont hear about those.

we only hear about the situations where a child accidentally shot his mother.

What about the kid who accidentally killed most of his family with the car?

http://www.nola.com/traffic/index.ss...car_wreck.html

says nothing in the article of the hundred some odd million teen drivers who didnt

I'm just saying that the media can paint a pretty bleak picture that everyone who carries concealed is probably going to be accidentally shot by their kid or spouse or whatever...

and there is a lot of misleading information out there as well

Like the folks who go droning on and on and on about how you can go into a gun show and buy a fully automatic M16 without a background check because loop holes

false false false

I went to a gun show and found an AR 15 i wanted. sat there for 20 minutes while they guy called what seemed like every 3 letter agency in the USA to ask for permission to sell me a simi-automatic firearm

the fear of firearms and folks that own them is totally unfounded

ok..
On another hand I don't understand this issue about the concealed/open carry...sort of ridicules issue.
If you are liable to have a permit then carry it whichever way you want.
Concealed is the most proper way in my opinion....or casual lol

MH you seem focused on a trigger guard. You specifically mentioned that in several of your posts. What is your issue with trigger guards on a holster?

I find the idea to go shopping and people are carrying firearms kind of grotesque, in the outback may be, but not in town and not in the Supermarket. Anyway, no visitor would ever manage to pass my door-step carrying firearms. You have to leave them at the door. Knives are ok to me. I like knives.

For People in Israel it may be make more sense to be armed to the teeth, but may be Israel has a more obvious inner security problem.

Trigger guards are not safe enough for casual/everyday carrying... when you do your daily things with a gun.
In particular when people put too much fate in it.

Trigger guards are meant to prevent you from firing the pistol accidentally when unholstering and to prevent anything from accidentally actuating the trigger while the pistol is holstered.

It's not meant to do anything pretty much beyond that

In my pants. Yes. In a holster, in the waistband on the right hip.

Unlike the purse, nobody is getting under my shirt and into my waistband without me noticing it.

Anyone can grab a pistol out of a purse while you shop... Especially if there is a shopping cart on which the purse sits.

If she was carrying concealed with a waistband holster this wouldn't have happened

I like how my blackhawk combines a trigger guard with a release mechanism. When I draw it keeps my finger along the side of the weapon and not on the trigger.

If you get your gun from Eric Holder.

What I wonder if why she felt the need to carry in Idaho, there can't be too many democrats there right?

Strange Americans and their obsession with personal defense fire arms, something I never understood.

I mean I live in Russia and even in 90s (when crime was bad) our family never had a requirement for such personal defense.
