The March towards Caen: Day 1.
The 21st Army Group was advancing towards Caen when they suddenly met heavy resistance in form of german infantry supported by light armor.
The british troops soon crumbled under the pressure of the fierce german counterattack, and retreated across the river to put up a forward base of operations. To avenge their fallen comrades, the british artillery pounded the german positions, causing much damage to the germans, but with few casualties. Both sides stayed on their side of the river during the night while preparing for the coming battle....

The March Towards Caen: Day 2
The next morning the British forces tried a breach across the river. They were expecting armor support from the beach the next day, but the British commander decided to attack without them. So the soldiers of the 59th Reconnaissance Regiment pressed the attack. With them were a handful of Bren Carriers and a small number of Stuart Light tanks.
Some grim sights were reported that day. Lieutenant Richard Carson was caught on fire by an enemy flawthrower unit. He panicked and ran towards the reserves. He died of his wounds before any medical aid could be given. The British troops fought for hours, but no breakthrough could be guaranteed by noon. As the minutes turned to hours, more and more cries for help could be heard. Corporal James Daneeka can be seen running towards the frontline, to recover any fallen troops. His actions on this day and the following two would later lead to his receiving of the Victoria Cross. Photo by war corospondent Arthur McWatt. Another photo by Arthur McWatt. This shows a Stuart Light Tank engaging a german Sturmgeschütz IV, a vain attempt to push back the german defenders long enough to ensure a breakthrough. On the picture is also Lance Corporal Thomas Dreedle, running for cover still carrying his Bren light machine gun. At 1700 Hours, there was still no breakthrough in sight, and forward troops reported that a German Panzer Division had entered the fierce battle. Decision was taken to once again retreat, while the 61st Field Regiment, Royal Artillery would give the retreating troops cover. The germans considered to continue the push and break the british line, but when greeted with immense artillery shelling from the boys of the 61st, they retreated back to their lines, and once again made ready to continue the bloody fighting the next day....

Escorting a flight of Ju87 Stukas over the Zeelands at the start of the campaign. This flight attacked British and French Destroyers that were bombarding German coastal facilities.

Nice shot Brauer! We Axis surely are getting our arses kicked lately! We've been pushed back ALOT! We even lost our airfields at Gilze & Beautrix.
Here's 3 shots of the jump with the FJ1.1 I made on to the Gilze Airfield: Heavy Flak Tracers from the 40mm Bofors Flak guns being shot at the Gilze AF Most of the Fallschirmjäger got out of the plane before it spiraled to it's death |

A DB-7 raid on a German held town.
The Anti Aircraft guns tried their best, but could not cope with the well planned raid. HE-111 revenge on an Allied held town. A Stuka raid I participated in. We struck allied armor on a hillside 2000m NW of a town. Patiently waiting for the Allied attack. We could hear the tanks inbound. I had a spotter, and killed 3 enemy Anti-tank guns in the opening moments of the battle. |

Awesome shots Dowly. I run with the Iron Wolves now, so maybe we can coordinate and help push the British and French back West. I also think I will start posting some screenies more often, as words can't describe the depth this game offers.

The March towards Caen: Day 3
Early next morning the british commander sent out patrols in the surrounding swamps to see if there was any weaker spot in the german lines. Apart from some empty bunkers, nothing could be found. But the ground was to soft and wet for any tanks to advance over it.
More bad news for the boys of the 59th (Staffordshire) Infantry Division, came when they got word that the armor support was delayed, and wouldn't make it until earliest next day. Major L.O Lyne decided to hold position and dig in until the tanks arrived. When the germans realised this, they pressed the attack, trying desperately to crush the british forces. The germans had some extra surprises up their sleeves...
