Default Automatic Ship Identification, Range, and AOB? (How do I turn on Manual TDC?)

I'm trying to figure out to to turn on manual tdc so I have to identify the ship, find the AOB, and its range all by myself, however it's automatically figured out for me when I view the ship through the attack periscope, even if it's more than 5km away.

I went to the attack map and made sure to turn on the "manual input"...I assumed this was TDC, and although it's now not auotmatically dialing in the solution for me, it still automatically tells me everything on my data notepad. Is it a realism setting that I have to check at the start of the campaign? Do I have to click on the weapons officer?

I'd like to figure this out so I can actually have a bit of an interesting challenge.

Thanks.

Default

1. Start the game.
2. If you are currently on a patrol, select Single Missions. It doesn't matter what the mission is, you're not going to load it anyway.
3. At the bottom, select Realism.
4. At the bottom left is Manual Targeting System. Make sure it's unchecked.
5. For more difficulty also uncheck Map Contact Updates. I don't consider this realistic, but since they update everything at once all the time it's not really realistic to have it on either. Your choice.
6. Save it and be done. It will change the options in your career as well.

If you're in between patrols you should be able to change it in the Career screen.
